Malibu Castle, which perished in today's fire, was actually in Escrow and set to have the final walk-through on Wednesday.

The deal was expected to close this Friday, and while the final selling price can't be confirmed, it had an asking price of $17 million.

The home is owned by socialite Lilly Lawrence, who was not home at the time of the blaze.

good land. It's prone to mudslides in "el nino" weather, earthquakes when they happen, and fires in drought weather. Basically, all you are buying is the ocean view and sunsets and truthfully I have seen better ones up in the Northwest for a fraction of the cost. I'm sure though that they still could get a lot for the land because of the view and sunsets factor.
