Let's get our congratulations and support of Mr. Gore out into the papers... and if you want to mention *cough* the idea of running.... please do! :D Here's mine:
I would like to congratulate Al Gore on winning the Nobel Prize for his work on global climate change. Now, what will it take to get each one of us doing more to fight this danger to the future of our planet? This is an issue that means life and death for all humanity. It should be a top priority for each one of us! For example, we need to all conserve energy and try to reduce our carbon footprint-- change our lightbulbs and find ways to drive less, for example.
However, I also want to see our government acknowledge that this issue is a real problem and start fighting it. Japan and Germany became front-runners in solar energy because their governments provided tax incentives for their citizens to buy solar panels. We need more of this kind of leadership in our country... and I for one do not believe that the Bush administration will provide it. Also, I don't believe that any of the current crop of Presidential candidates are as focussed on climate change as they ought to be. Al Gore needs to step up and enter the run for the Presidency in order to step up the dialog on global climate change in this country. As President, he would be even more effective in the fight against climate change. Also, his experience in many other areas would make him an all-around excellent President.
In short: Run, Al, Run! We need your leadership now.
Please post yours here!!!!
