We cannot allow RW talk radio to shape the '08 election
We're all familiar with how the Swiftboaters used RW talk radio to effectively run John Kerry into the ground. Hannity practically gave these guys unfettered access to his program, allowing them to spread their lies and propaganda at will. Conservative talk radio has basically become a 24/7 informercial for the Republican party, letting them saturate the airwaves with their talking points.

What I want to know is, why is RW talk radio allowed to do this, when other special interest groups are held to strict limits?

1. RW radio brings in the bucks
and for whatever reason, LW radio doesn't. All about the money.

3. No, it does not always bring in the bucks
Limbaugh does, but a lot of the next tier are financed by Scaife, Moon, etc and kept on the air despite miserable ratings.

6. Well then
LW radio also needs to get some deep pockets to back them.

4. It's not just RW radio, my friend. RW talking points....
... abound here on DU, especially in the last couple of months. Actually, I think it's more like GW talking points on DU. And I don't mean George W. You want to counter the shit from the right? We can barley do that on our beloved DU. We need to first conquer the real enemy, then work on moving our party in the right direction.

IMHO, good debates involving the proposals of our Dem candidates, is healthy. It's the childish name-calling, and stamping of feet, that's embarrassing.

8. Well, I'll concede the style points.
But...

I'm exhausted trying to point out that the only way out of this mess is to elect people who will do good things -- repeatedly, relentlessly, in the face of criticism and opposing pressure -- always trying to do what's right.

We've got a disaster in the Middle East; we've decimated our national treasury; the world hates and fears us with good reason (lots of serious PR work to be done); and if we snatch the last fragments of the Bill of Rights out of the fire right now and pat it down, we might just be able to make out what it said.

A so-so president won't be able to accomplish half of the needed repairs and may even set us back if their actions in the WH prove to the population that what Nader said about the two parties being the same is actually true -- true today even if it wasn't yet in 2000.

It's not near good enough just to put the best party in charge -- it's not working out very well in congress right now -- we have to pick someone really good for the White House.

Now everyone here knows that the other party is corrupt. After a certain point, it's just masturbatory to insist that we keep posting on how much we hate them. Check that item off the list; we hate them.

Meanwhile, we've got to try very hard to pick the best candidate that we can. Until the primaries are over, Democrats who don't act like Democrats are exactly who we should be criticizing.

Once the nomination is made the situation will be different and so will our responses. But not now!

10. RW radio is done. They are staunchly pro-War. Their audience is shrinking
... they will start jumping the war boat in a year or two or become obsolete
