My crazy-assed dream to save this country (warning: another Gore post)

Maybe it isn't so crazy - it really could put a halt to what running for president has become. At this point, I am completely disgusted and have lost interest with the entire process; from the money to the moving of the primaries to having candidates shoved down our throats by the media. I am left with the aftertaste of an artificial democracy.

In my dream, Al Gore would be elected president regardless of whether or not he decided to make it official. A mass movement of ordinary people would write his name on enough ballots to beat the "official" candidates and in one great moment of triumph, those of us who feel powerless would actually leave those with all the power speechless holding wads of cash, and we would move this country and the way we do politics in a new direction.

Of course this will never happen, and I will vote for the Democratic candidate (who inevitably will be Hillary), but a girl can dream can't she?

:D

1. that is a strange dream
What saves us, the man Gore, or the act of writing in a candidate?

I don't understand what makes Gore so essential. Granted, he has made some great speeches and written some good books, but does that make him "the saviour"? If we are going to be saved, one thing I think we need is to end this fascination and complete dependence on 'leaders'.

2. Actually, the candidate is insignificant; Gore would be most likely.
The act of writing in a candidate; the solidarity of such an act in defiance of who we "should" vote for - who we told to vote for. I don't think Gore is "the saviour" but he makes a lot more sense than most.
