3. You already voted! There are several that are very unlikely to be Red.
Ohio and New Mexico top the list. Colorado and Missouri very probable blue.

2008 could be a blow-out a la '64 and Goldwater.

7. My home state, Iowa
Democratic Governor, Democratic House, Democratic Senate, three of five representatives to the U.S. Congress are Democrats, and the great Tom Harkin is one of our Senators. Not bad for a place some in DU have called a bunch of rednecks.

31. Yeah, I listen on 720 sometimes
but there is a local station which carries them and believe it or not, we even have cable and satellite TV out here in the sticks. Of course, I'm on the internet via telekinetics. Just lucky ya know.
Footnote-The morning personality on WGN Radio, Spike O'Dell, is a native of the region I live in and his first radio job was right here in Davenport, IA. In fact, his mother still lives here. Damn rubes!

15. My home state of Virginia!
Actually VA is a Commonwealth but that's a long story...

Anyways, in 2001 and 2005 VA elected a Democrat as Governor. In 2006 Webb won a Senate seat. I consider it plausible that VA will vote Blue in 13 months.

26. I sure hope you're right!
I live in Virginia, and have watched the transformation. It also looks like our former governor Mark Warner is going to vie for John Warner's Senate seat. Woohoo...a Democratic Governor and TWO Senators. :bounce:

30. I was thinking the same thing.
Having Mark Warner join Webb as our 2 Senators will be magnificent!
:yoohoo:

Regardless of which party wins the Presidential election, I see both parts of Congress turning more blue (especially the Senate).

the electoral college map on Election Night is going to be a damned uplifting thing to look at on our screens.

21. several might but NM is much more likely than say, Ohio
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 09:02 AM by book_worm
NM Kerry lost only narrowly and was won by Clinton twice and Gore once and has a strong Dem governor and open Senate Seat which Dems will probably win. It also has a higher Dem registration than Ohio. NM probably could go Democratic by a large margin without a lot of investment--Ohio will, as always, be a battleground and a lot of effort and money will have to go into the state. Ohio certainly can be won, but it's not as likely as say NM, Iowa or even, imo, Colorado.

So if the question on this poll is which state is "most likely" to switch from red to blue--I'd say New Mexico. If it were which states were most likely to switch from Red to blue I'd say:
New Mexico
Iowa
Nevada
Colorado
Ohio
Arizona
Virginia
Florida
Missouri
Arkansas

25. I would say Alaska also has a good chance
Their Senators and lone Congressman are taking a beating in Corruption investigations. All are involved and the publicity is on a National level. Besides the fact that if they want real representaion they need to be a part of the Majority.

29. Arkansas for sure if HRC is the nominee,
otherwise, regardless of the nominee, would say Ohio (Sherrod Brown & Ted Strickland won by large margins in 2006 midterms :woohoo: & I think that state can go blue in 2008) & New Mexico...
