Religion "killing" Tory
Edited on Fri Sep-28-07 08:20 PM by lynyrd_skynyrd
Look what happens when a politician tries to use religion to get votes in Canada...

http://www.canada.com/topics/news/politics/story.html?id=ee269030-9aeb-4cc0-94e1-2cfb58087fc0

Ontario’s Conservative leader John Tory enters the final leg of the provincial election campaign with the daunting task of shifting voters’ attention from faith-based school funding — the issue he willingly embraced as a potential vote-getter, but one that now looks likely to kill his party’s chances of victory.

The Ipsos Reid-CanWest News Service poll published today suggests that Conservative support for faith-based school funding is unpopular with many supporters of all parties and has turned into political gold for the Dalton McGuinty Liberals.

According to results of the poll, opposition to taxpayer funding of religious schools is growing, with 68 per cent of Ontarians opposing the move — 51 per cent saying they “strongly” oppose it. Thirty percent say they support the move, but only 12 per cent “strongly” support it.

1. Man's an idiot.
The reason people oppose it has to do with long experience with the Catholic school system. They tend to faulty socialization.

3. Ontario already publicly funds Catholic schools. The debate is whether to include other religions.

5. No reason why they should
funding catholic schools is funding one religion too many. they should nationalize the schools. churches too for that matter. turn them all into low income housing.
