Springsteen's new album strongly anti- (Iraq) war
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,298230,00.html

BTW, he's making his first-ever NBC Today Show concert appearance tomorrow.

On his new album, "Magic," Springsteen jumps right into the fray again. In a dramatic new REM-ish anthem called "Last to Die," he sings: "Who'll be the last to die for a mistake/The last to die for a mistake/Whose blood will spill, whose heart will break/Who'll be the last to die for a mistake."

The mistake is clearly the Iraq war. "We don't measure the blood we've drawn anymore," he sings. "We just stack the bodies outside the door."

"Magic," which hits stores Tuesday but is already widely available on the Internet, seems like a party album at first. But it has a dark underside: blood and dead bodies wend their way through the songs.

<snip>

In one song, “Seven drops of blood fall” as a woman smooths the front of her dress. In another, a kiss produces “the taste of blood on your tongue.” There’s a “bloody red horizon.”

1. Sirius (was paid to) usurp their soft rock station starting tonight...
...to become an All Bruce station for the next six months .

I like Bruce, but "The Bridge" is my relaxation station. Not happy, and neither are most subscribers.

4. His label.
This has happened before at Sirius.

They have suspended programming and gone all one artist several times.

For The Who, The Stones, and I believe at least once before for Bruce.

7. Well, I'm VERY happy, myself!
Right now they're playing the '78 concert from the Capital Theater in Passaic, NJ.

My first Springsteen concert, and it was great! I'm loving every minute of it. Especially since I didn't manage to get tickets to the concert here next week. It's going to kill me!

(But I agree about the Bridge. I love that channel, too.)

8. Yeah, yeah. I listened to the first hour for that concert and it was great.
I was a concert going dude in those days. I know the Boss.

But being a concert going dude from those days (of a certain age), I can go for the soft rock too. Love riding my bike with my Stiletto player and relaxing with the Bridge.

What's wrong with a Bruce week or month?

Six months? The tour will be over in the US by mid-November.

Too much Bruce. Why can't Sirius pick another channel to pick on this time?

10. LOL, there are a few I'd nominate, myself!
I know what you mean. Wasn't quite so excited when it was The Who, for example. A little goes a long way for me there.

But take note of my name, and you'll probably understand it's practically genetic for me. I just love my Bruce! And since I won't be seeing him this go-round (sob!), this will have to do for me. I can get the recorded stuff without Sirius, of course. But hearing that concert really did it for me. I've still got such clear memories of that one, since it was my first Springsteen concert.

So yeah, some of us (of that certain age) are still nutty fanatics, I'm afraid!

But you know what? I do agree with you about the length of it. I'd be happy, in fact, with a few hours a night of live programming or such. As I said, the cd stuff I can play myself. It's the concert recordings I don't have. (Yeah, I'm a good girl and never bootlegged any).

3. I love Bruce....glad he's doing this... Clips I heard didn't seem
the quality of his last albums, though. Thanks for the post and heads up about Today Show. What time and network is it on? I haven't watched Today in so long I can't remember...

5. NBC- starts at 7AM and now goes to 10AM (just added third hour)
My advice is to tape it... they usually have the guest perform twice but the times float. My hubbie is going down to Rock center early tomorrow to try to catch some of it. I'm sure it'll be quite a mob scene!

promoting Bruce's "Anti-Iraq Invasion Album." I didn't know what to make of that because it was thrown out there...and I didn't get impression Tweety was Bruuuuuce Fan.
