10. But said specifically that he could not promise to bring back all troops.

But, as you said, the question was very disingenuous because the obvious answer was NO.

May be, at some point, it would be good to tell these moderators to stop with stupid questions. There were way too many in this debate, and I only watched half of it.

Edwards said his position on Iraq was different from Obama and Clinton, adding he would "immediately drawn down 40,000 to 50,000 troops." That's roughly half the 100,000 that Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, has indicated could be stationed there when President Bush's term ends in January 2009.

Edwards sought to draw a distinction between his position and Clinton's, saying she had said recently she wants to continue combat missions in Iraq.

"I do not want to continue combat missions in Iraq," he said.

Clinton responded quickly, saying Edwards had misstated her position. She said she favors the continued deployment of counterterrorism troops, not forces to engage in the type of combat now under way.

2. We will never be out of Iraq....
So the "6 days, 6 weeks, I doubt 6 months" has turned into 10 years minimum? Our entire government has failed us.

11. Maybe I'm a moran for asking,
but just why exactly do we have troops in Germany and Korea?

7. Only Richardson, Kucinich, and Biden committed to "ALL OUT" before end of their 1st term..
No thats not news really... they (the front runners) would not make that commitment.

8. This was a disingenuous question ... He asked would they 'guarantee...'
Timmy asked each of them if they would 'guarantee' the American people that all the troops would be out of Iraq by the end of their first term.

They each stated that no one knows what the dynamics will be 5 yrs from now.

Edwards actually said he would bring the combat troops home, and he thought we would have to keep some soldiers there to guard the US Embassy. That is not the same thing as saying 'Edwards will have troops in Iraq in 2013' as you state in your post.
