Science education and... pizza?
Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 03:52 PM by SallyMander
I'm reading the book Monkey Girl by Edward Humes, which is an account of the recent battle over teaching evolution in Dover, PA (a great read so far!).

The prologue describes some of the most prominent players in the trial, one of which is "the Michigan-based Thomas More Law Center, a law firm launched by the billionaire founder of Domino's Pizza with a mission to return religion 'to the public square,' billing itself, rather immodestly, as 'the sword and shield for people of faith.'"

Jeepers! Guess i'll be avoiding Domino's during future late-night pizza cravings... ;-)

Edited to add: if you really want your head to explode, here's their website http://www.thomasmore.org/

2. Domino's founder Tom Monaghan is *EXTREMELY* right wing
I would put the word "extremely" in large type bold italics, if I could. This is the man who is building a Roman Catholic theocracy named Ave Maria in Florida.

I have not eaten Domino's in many, many years.

4. No problem boycotting dominos, and thanks for the heads up.
Their pizza's not that good anyway. Does anyone have a list of pizza chains with better ownership? A bit more left or environmental? How does pizza hut fair?

6. Um isn't Domino's owner Catholic (RW Fundie Catholic but Catholic none-the-less)?
Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 03:50 PM by YOY
Catholics who don't beleive in evolution go against church acceptance of evolution!

Hey, b**** about the other crimes of the Catholic church but pushing creationism isn't one!

8. I can't stand Domino's Pizza and since I heard that, we don't buy from them.

Same goes for "Curves for Women". They are owned by a 'pro-life agenda' Christian based RW group.

TRUE!
