Turning Jena around.. the free market way..
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 10:27 AM by SoCalDem
It's too bad that some organizations don't figure out a way to turn Jena around.. There are approximately 2,435 whites living there (84.9% of the 2,867 population.. I don't know how many of these are voting age.. An infusion of a thousand or so might just make a difference..

Land is cheap there, and the labor market is surely not on the high end either..

Imagine an inspired group of non-whites (with some financial backing), willing to relocate there, and set up a few factories... making US-made toys..safe toys... American made clothing..and perhaps a pet food company that would make safe organic petfoods..

the jobs that these companies could attract would mean more smaller businesses could crop up..

Technically they could not discrimate when it came to hiring, be we all know how things get done.."with a wink & a nod"..

Attracting more minority people to these bigoted little burgs seems like a better solution to me.. if the racists choose to move away, so be it..

Guys like Michael Jordan & Magic Johnson are businessmen..who knows.. maybe people like them could get behind a project like this..

Instead of fighting in futility, why not fighting with dollar & cents & jobs.. and a byproduct? changing the town's politics..
