Dems need to ring a bell on the floor of the House & Senate everytime another soldier dies in Iraq

... and observe a minute of silence for each soldier. THis needs to be done as soon as the death is announced, and the moment of silence needs to occur immediately no matter what business is being done except finish a vote.

It would help them realize that as they fail to take action to end this war, lives are being lost.

If the family is not yet notified, the release of the name of the dead troop is a bad idea. Without the name, it'd be "another un-named troop" and lose some impact. The timing of any notification would be at the whim of the Cheney/Bush Pentagon... and that'd invite political gamesmanship.

Nonetheless, it's appalling when it becomes banal that people are being killed. And it HAS become banal. Each and every individual death, in service to a nation but exploited by the corrupt Cheney/Bush regime, deserves honor and recognition ... particularly by those without the spine to even risk their 'seats' to do the Right Thing.

Maybe Pelosi or Reid could open each session by reading the names of the soldiers that have been released the day before.

The counter argument that would be effective is that the inconvenience of stopping business of the chamber is outweighed by the need to recognize a soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our country.

Sure would be interesting to hear a Repub argue against this kind of recognition since they pride themselves on 'supporting the troops.'
