To the troops in Iraq, being left behind...
Edited on Thu Sep-13-07 11:22 AM by Breeze54
Disclaimer: Yes, I know the Iraqi's are suffering, so please do not post that info here, ok?
This one thread is for, the troops and their families, being stuck in Iraq, due to the escalation and the lies.
I thought it would be appropriate to post, ahead of the monkeybutts speech.

The truth hurts, doesn't it? Remember that the suffering you so easily dismiss is CAUSED by those troops.

3. The troops didn't choose to be there
They were sent there by us.

6. of course they did....
Unless they were shipped over in restraints, every single American killing Iraqis for Bush had a choice. Perhaps not a choice without personal consequences, but most moral decisions are like that. Doing the right thing is not always easy.

9. We are all moral cowards
Because we could all go lay our bodies on the train tracks and stop this war if we wanted to.

Why should we condemn the troops for our own failings?

11. good point-- I think you are completely right...
...and I'm ashamed-- as an American, and as a person-- that I've allowed my name to be so badly used by the people prosecuting the war in our names. Damn.

Thanks for the reality check.

10. I genuinely don't understand the military worship that often masquarades...
Edited on Thu Sep-13-07 11:41 AM by mike_c
...as patriotism in America. American troops are not hapless victims in Iraq, in Afghanistan, or in other places where the boot heel of U.S. foreign policy is on the necks of people who were never any threat to us. They are the instruments of that foreign policy. How can they deserve our support unless we are prepared to support what they are doing in our names? The military in Iraq is not defending the U.S., it's not defending the Constitution, it's not doing anything noble at all.

If you disagree, I'm happy to discuss our disagreements.

You just want to argue and 'be right'. You aren't right.

Your post reveals your lack of knowledge on the whole situation.

You should read up on the subject. Here, I'll even start you off.
