If we committed to this "super surge" in Iraq - what if we really
did need our armies back to actually protect us in a real fight? Cause that could really happen.

What do we do then??

1. Strategically and tactically we are open for anything
the only reason nobody in their right mind would attack the Continental US is our nuclear umbrella

I'd even hazard that the only reason China has not invaded Taiwas is that umbrella.

If we didn't have it, I seriously think we would have been invaded by an enemy army by now

And no, it is not a happy scenario to think that the only thing keeping others from doing what they could, is them damn nukes and why they are gonna skin this cat with other methods. (Economy anyone?)

In the end it don't matter how many ways there are to skin a cat, the cat don't like any of them

2. Nadin we agree so basically.
But what if we are not made victims of nation states?? Who can we nuke then??

I really think you are right about China - they would have moved on that island otherwise.

3. Doesn't really matter to this bunch. Arabians trained and based
in Afghanistan & Pakistan hit us, so we bomb Iraq. Just close your eyes and throw a dart. Bomb there.

4. But this bunch is not us. They don't even pretend to represent us
anymore. What makes you think anyone even knows where the next hammer falls??

They work for us - and they need to be reminded they do. This is our country - and we have an interest in making sure our "democtratic experiment" does succeed.

And I think they are just another impediment to that right now.

5. I'm just real dis-heartened by today's spectacle in congress. I
have a bad feeling they're not through yet.

6. That may be right - maybe they are not.
But we as a people are. I am convinced. Took us a little as a people to call bullshit - but we are doing that I think.

I don't care what these people try and do anymore - I care what we do.

In the end - they can never out voice us - we hired the little bastards and we can fire them too.
