Bush Clashes With South Korean President Over Korean War...
Bush spars with Roh, meets with Putin

President, S. Korean leader engage in rare testy exchange over Korean War

'SYDNEY, Australia - In a testy public exchange Friday with South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, President Bush said the United States would formally end the Korean War only when North Korea halts its nuclear weapons program.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of a 21-nation Pacific Rim summit here, spending much of their roughly one-hour session discussing the international standoff over the communist North’s pursuit of atomic arms.

They agreed there had been progress. But then they had a before-the-cameras back-and-forth that was remarkable in the diplomatic world of understatement and subtlety.'

1. I would love to watch the video, but I can never get Beta videos.
Any suggestions as to how I might download the program?

3. hm, dunno, maybe some DUer will pop in with some IT angle or other...
but is was noteworthy for displaying bush's pissy intransigence, his willingness to pursue perpetual war, strife, division...to not be seen as encouraging any peaceful ideas in this world only war

'S. Korea rebuffs Bush over Korean war By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

SYDNEY, Australia - In an unexpected twist of events, President Bush's bout of diplomacy in Asia hit a snag in dealings with longtime ally South Korea and drew a conciliatory gesture from "Axis of Evil" member North Korea.

Just hours after Bush suffered an awkward moment on Friday with South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun over terms for ending the Korean War, Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill announced a breakthrough in efforts to get North Korea to abandon its nuclear program.

North Korea has invited nuclear experts from the United States, China and Russia into the country to survey and recommend ways of disabling all of its atomic facilities by the end of the year, Hill, the chief U.S. envoy to the communist regime, announced Friday. The team will go next week.'
