Mocking other's beliefs does not really win them over.

2. No ones beliefs are being mocked. What is being mocked is the
belief that ones beliefs should be universally accepted without question. And that if that does not happen, then we go kill the heathen non-believers.

It's that whole "if you are not with us you are agin us thing".

3. Well that is the nature of some beliefs
There are people out there that believe in Good and Evil with the big capital letters. So yeah it is mocking beliefs. This can be effective. But its an art. And I just don't see it being effectively portrayed in this strip.

4. what the strip is mocking
is the sort of person who chooses a belief for shallow reasons. I have known many such people, who pick their sect or even their religion on the basis of what it can get them. Some of those people are social climbers, some of them are looking for day care or a food cupboard. Whether they join to get a leg up or to get assistance during hardship, they haven't joined because of any real belief or fellow feeling themselves. As soon as they find a god who makes better pancakes, they are outta there.
