Lance Armstrong - Presidential Candidates Forum on Cancer
Edited on Tue Aug-28-07 07:48 AM by OzarkDem
Kucinich had a good showing, answering all the questions and showing he has a realistic, comprehensive agenda.

Link to MSNBC clips of all Dem candidates at the Cancer Forum last night

Other highlights were discussion of how candidates acceptance of money from the health insurance industry has kept Dems from developing a quality health care reform plan. Dems have to understand that developing a single payer plan for cancer care will not be unfair competition for private insurance companies - they don't want to cover cancer patients.

John Edwards made very good points on this topic:

Disclaimer: I'm not promoting his or any Dem's candidacy, just pointing out how well he did in this forum.

As information, none of the major Republican candidates are planning to appear at the GOP forum Armstrong is presenting tonight.

1. I'm confused.
Isn't Armstrong a fascist Bush supporter and friend?

4. Not just research
but also access to quality, affordable cancer car and screeing and support services for survivors.

We could find a cure for all cancers tomorrow, but over 1/3 of cancer patients would still die due to lack of access to quality health care.

3. He puts cancer advocacy first and foremost
I'm not sure about his political leanings, but he's getting the questions out there and making everyone answer it.

5. I believe he knows Bush and considers him a friend
My niece is a cancer survivor and heavy into the Livestrong group. Her take is that Armstrong is really laser focused on his mission and will buddy up with anyone who may be able to help. She said John Edwards is also a friend of Armstrong's.
Her take on Armstrong politics is that he leans left due to health care issues.

6. So Lance leans left on health care issues
I wonder how he feels about the fact that all the major GOP candidates have refused to show up for his Cancer Forum?

7. NO NO NO NO NO NO
Lance is a liberal Democrat who is friends with Bush. They bike together, just like he bikes with liberal Robin Williams. He votes Democratic and participates in Democratic politics. He lives in my town. He is also friends with his ex, far-leftist Sheryl Crow. If you actually READ what he says, he says he doesn't give a shit about politics. He doesn't like to alienate people because AFTER WHAT HE WENT THROUGH..CANCER FROM HIS TESTICLES TO HIS HEAD...HE IS ONLY INTERESTED IN CANCER RESEARCH AND THE BIG BUCKS IT TAKES. After what he went through that is more than fine with me. HE has said, when he pulls the lever, he votes for the Democrat. Oddly, Bush has friends and some are Democrats. ...but that isn't all of Lance's friends as I pointed out above.
