I'd Like a Little Help Re: Ted Nugent
Edited on Sun Aug-26-07 09:11 AM by cosmik debris
He has a weekly column in my local paper, The Waco Tribune Herald. I would like to see it terminated. Here is a link to today's column. You don't need to read it, just scroll to the bottom of the page and leave a comment. (no vulgarity please)

http://www.wacotrib.com/opin/content/news/opinion/stories/nugent/08262007_wac_nugent.html

And when you finish that, you might want to drop a note to the editors of the paper at this address:

[email protected]

It won't get published, but they need to know how we feel.

And thanks to one and all.

1. I left a comment...
says it will take at least 5 minutes to show up.

"I think that after your blatant threats of death to 2 presidential candidates, you should be locked up and mentally
evaluated. If they wait a few weeks, you can shit yourself
silly before going in like you did to avoid serving in Vietnam.
Patriot my ass...more like idiot."

2. He has a column?
In a real newspaper? Holy shit; it's worse than I thought. I saw his "rant" video recently and the first thing that came to my mind was that he had to be on something. If he wasn't under the influence, he needs serious help.

78. Mine ...
I love the fortune cookie academics. I haven't seen such wisdom since I last had to use a gas station men's room. That's real Americana. Bravo. Only drunks puking in the parking lot of their local long-neck belch and strut could possibly assimilate more extensive bumper-sticker idiocy. Don't give up, Ted. Drink up.

As a Viet Nam veteran, I must express my appreciation for Ted's choice to stay out of Viet nam. The Wall is surely long enough as it is without Ted's tally. As a Michigander, I'm similarly appreciative that Ted calls Texas 'home.' It renews my trust in dharma.

6. Ranting from the lunatic fringe
Wielding a brace of automatic weapons, Ted Nugent called Barack Obama "a piece of shit," and said he should suck on his automatic weapon, and then called Hillary Clinton a "bitch," that should ride his machine gun into the sunset.
Nugent, an embarrassment to all responsible, sensible, gun owners and hunters continues to spread his bile and lunacy and helps poison public opinion against hunting and responsible gun ownership. Nugent's outrageous advocacy of hunting and gun ownership is as nauseating as his music, and proves that there is nothing so pathetic as an aging rocker that can't let go of his teen-age addiction to public attention.

If anyone deserves to go on a hunting trip with Dick Cheney, it's Ted Nugent. Light him up Uncle Dick.

It's easy to stand up for wars that other's have to fight, isn't it Ted? That's all you've ever done.

And, we have seen disruption from media outlets here, before, although usually from the fringes of internet publications or, of course, the screeching pundits of FAUX and their minions.

There is a major element of censorship at work in the management of this newspaper's comment section.

40. Technical problems
Right now, you can see all the comments here:

http://www.wacotrib.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/communities/comment/entries/2007/08/26/ted_nugent_opinions_no_just_th.html

After some large number of comments (100, I believe) the older comments will begin disappearing from the top of that page. It has to do with how Movable Type was installed, IIRC.

I'm not sure what's currently wrong with the comment paging -- a Java issue, likely. I'm only having the problem in MSIE (version 6). Firefox, Safari and the like are working. It's odd, since comment paging is working on other stories (e.g. last week's Nugent column: http://www.wacotrib.com/opin/content/news/opinion/stories/nugent/08192007_wac_nugent.html). I've got a call in to our technical people to prevent it from happening in the future.

Thanks

and was very proud of it! He had a TV show on a few years back (don't remember the name of it) but it was on for quite a while, that was shot at his home in MI.

Did you Michiganders run him out? Wasn't he born & raised in MI?

Guess the only state that would take him was the Sucky state of TX.
I vote we have TX succeed from the Union; this would be a better country for it. Get rid of him, Kay Bailey-Hutchison, Delay, Bushie, Cronyn, and many more "problems".

My bet is it was MI until of late, when he obviously was "adopted" by TX.

This just rings of the desperation & sleazy planning of the Repukes (Rove-style). They WOULD go so far as to have some cross-cultural icon (like Nuge) to claim residence in TX to try & influence youth & old rockers that don't know any better. The Bubba's of the South would listen to Nuge, because he espouses gun-tottin' rights & all that jazz.

Nuge claims he's never done any recreational drugs. Well......that is even scarier, because he can't even use drugs & alcohol as excuses for his crazy & bizarre behavior & attitudes!

Hey, Hippies may "stink" but at least they aren't rotten, lazy conservative cows (like your wife, Ted) who sit back and allow their mentally-deranged, cowardly husbands to molest children. Or better yet, get their own abused children save the neighborhood kids from their smelly old has-been of a daddy.

Caroline, perhaps you might provide one example of how I am a 'rotten, lazy conservative cow.' I work approximately 50 hrs per week, serve on the boards of many charitable organizations, and devote my life to being a good mother. I am not & would never be married to a child molestor. You are obviously misinformed & fail to acknowledge the facts.

47. He acts like he is a hero
Edited on Sun Aug-26-07 02:38 PM by cosmik debris
for finding what anyone could find by using google. I'm not sure if he has crossed the line that the Trib would shut him down, but he is near it. They have in the past shut down people for profanity and racial slurs. But I know that he is all hot air. So what's to worry about.

48. Well he says he has read hundreds of posts here
so he must find something interesting to read. What is with the homo comments? Is this second grade?
Is he so amazed that people who are upset at Mr Nugent's performance are making comments about it? I mean no one is making anyone post there unless they have a beef with the comments are they? Is my comment invalid less because I found a place where Mr Nugent might read my opinion on line?

49. The homo thing is standard insult for the far right nut jobs down here
They think it hurts me when they call me a homo. If they really want to hurt me they would call me a Republican. Now THAT'S an insult that would almost hurt my feelings.

The right wing fundies in Texas are not used to being confronted. They behave as if they are the only ones on the planet. Dissent is so alien to them that they go bonkers at any suggestion of their failures. It is really funny to me. I hope they are enjoying it too.

Don't they already have Gay Marriage rights in Mass? Hmmm? I smell a fish. But that's what Red Baiters catch :)

Whoever posted as his wife was way out of line. I always hope for civilized conversation and these days I am disappointed more often than not.

75. Did you notice the irony
Matthew Shepard was the screen name of the guy tossing around all the homo name calling.

Matthew Shepard is also the name of the gay man who was tied to a barbed wire fence and beaten to death in Wyoming a few years ago.

64. Got Some Friends? Pay The Paper A Visit
Include picket signs and a bullhorn...invite some of the competing papers and TV stations to join the party. Also, why not visit a local record store that may stock his albums...or a major advertiser of the paper...those business people just LOVE seeing protestors out their doors.

65. It may come to that, but I don't think so
I think Ted is Toast. Just like Michael Richards racist Rant in that night club or Don Imus's racist comments on TV. You just can't be seen in public with people like that. It is too embarrassing. They have to ditch him just to keep their dignity. I think it is over for poor Teddy boy.

66. Nugent Is Irrelevant
Part of me is repulsed by what this POS blew out his pie hole, but I also see this as a stunt by the fukstick to get some headlines.

Usually his rants and crap are now limited to the hate radio and Faux opinion world...making this into an Imus or other story elevates what he said onto a stage where "Nuge" wants to be...getting corporate media attention. Let's face it, this guy can barely draw flies to his concerts or whatever he tries to do on stage now...let's keep him at the state fairs and shopping center openings...away from a larger audience.

I fancy myself a human sponge for information, facts, data, wisdom and truth.

Then, snip, paragraph five:
