There Were Murals on Walls in Iraq of the Planes Flying into the Towers?
I was just over on Free Republic (because I get curious sometimes) and one poster wrote that there were murals on walls in Iraq that depicted the planes flying into the Towers. I haven't heard this one before.

And it was enough that Sadaam wanted WMD. So it was OK to go to war to stop him?

Oh, and Bush never said that Alquaida and Sadaam were connected. That argument is all a big lie.

Sometimes I am absolutely amazed at how easy it is to deceive yourself. Denial is a pretty scary thing.

3. So that mural was a reason to declare war?
Boy! And it is terrible art. It kind of looks like something a bunch of 4th graders would do.

6. There's been no independent confirmation that these paintings are genuine...
... as far as I am concerned, they offer no other purpose than to suggest that Saddam and 9/11 were linked. Regardless of where the murals originated, it's clear that Bush's intent was to use these images to suggest a link that did not exist.

4. I wonder what the caption on the first one says...
as far as the second one, it looks like it was done after our invasion because of the soldier depicted on the right.

2. Look in to the minds...
Of The Authoritarians.

The fact is the free republic lot would have supported Hitler, Saddam or any other dictator.

5. Bush never said that Alquaida and Sadaam were connected
Thanks because they re-write history whenever they feel like it and the freepers believe what they are told even if they've heard different before.

Here's the "no connection" list of quotes

Certainly somewhere on DU is the list of "connection" quotes

7. even if it were true
yes, after a country helps place an embargo on you that kills hundreds of thousands of your neighbors and friends...you might be a little bitter about it.

8. It is typical of freepers to hold the actions of one or two
Muslims against the entire group of persons following that religion.

yet they would never take individual responsibility for the actions of another American.

The freeper tries to take you from "some guy painted this mural" to "everyone of the same ethnicity or religion as that guy deserves to die." It is shameful. If we want to talk about racism, there is it. The freepers love it, because they realize they won't be called on it, or if they are, they can start on that "emboldening the enemy" sort of crap. They are relieved to find an "acceptable" area of racism.
