Former Baptist preacher, North Carolina lawmaker & morality activist pleads guilty on sex charge
Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 05:51 AM by Bluebear
"We discourage the promotion and use of beverage alcohol and other drugs, pornography, sexual immorality and other sinful practices that not only undermine the spiritual lives of those who participate in them but also undermine the strength of our state and national character." - Privette's website

Privette (far right!)

Privette, 74, is a former trustee of the Christian Life Commission (now Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission), the Southern Baptist Convention's moral-watchdog agency. He is a former trustee chair of the SBC's Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.

=============

Salisbury — A former lawmaker and president of a North Carolina Christian group pleaded guilty Wednesday to soliciting a prostitute.

Coy C. Privette, 74, of Kannapolis, was placed on probation for one year after pleading guilty to six counts of aiding and abetting prostitution. He also was ordered to perform 48 hours of community service and receive counseling...A retired Baptist minister, Privette served four terms in the state House and is a member of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners.

Privette resigned as president of the Christian Action League of North Carolina the day after his arrest. The organization represents Christian groups' interests in the General Assembly.

He had been the group’s president for six years and served as its executive director for 15 years before that. He has been one of the state's most vocal opponents to the lottery and to alcohol sales.

2. I'm not a bit shocked Privette has been caught diddling whores.
I am deeply shocked that Kannapolis has whores to diddle.

Things must've changed drastically in NC since the late 60s.
