11. WWRL's Armstrong Williams and his co host rot, they should
just take them off, WWRL is the flagship station of AAR, so why don't they put on the Young Turks, they are better than these two bozos.

5. Not on my AAR
I have satellite radio. Thankfully he is not on my AAR. I would likely vomit.

6. AAR is tanking
Al is being replaced on AAR XM radio with Ed instead of Thom Hartmann. The Young Turks are a poor replacement for Marc Maron. The station only has a few hours of good talk on each day. If they would properly adjust their line up, I believe that they could remain economically viable.

9. I don't think Thom can be on XM since he's on Sirius. I'd rather have Thom on XM too,
but he's been on "Radio Left" on Sirius and probably has a contract with them.

And I repeat, Williams is NOT a part of AAR.

10. I wish that AAR and then XM would get it together
It seems that half of AAR is on Sirius and half is on XM. AAR needs to get their lineup straight and then go sell themselves to satellite companies. I refuse to get XM for Randi and Sirius for Thom and Malloy.

13. Of course you know Malloy isn't AAR either.
From what I have been able to gather, Thom has had a syndicated show longer than AAR has been around. AAR only recently picked him up and added him to the network. Thom cut a separate deal with Sirius before AAR was on satellite radio and before Thom was a part of the network.

There are rumors that XM and Sirius are going to merge. (I don't think this is a good thing in and of itself, but that's another discussion.) So, all these different deals mean you can't get all the liberal talkers on one service.

And remember, one show isn't going to show up on both satellite services because they're in competition with each other. On balance, I like XM's programming over Sirius's.

14. Mike used to be on AAR and Thom is on XM's AAR on the weekend
I don't care which satellite or terra radio gets their station lineup. I wish that there was one place where they could all be located. I hope that Nova-M, Head On Radio, and possibly even Genesis Communications (or Revere Network Radio) could get on a satellite sometime soon. I'll admit it that I like to listen to all kinds of radio before watching tv. I even like Alex Jones. Independent radio and internet are the last chances that we have for actual news and opinion that are not the pulpits of this corpo-fascist regime.

17. Right, Malloy WAS on AAR. Thom's weekend show is a rebroadcast of a weekday show.
It would be my guess that contractually his LIVE show can't be on XM.

I agree, it would be nice to have some satellite service that would be "one stop shopping" for us. However, if XM and Sirius merge, we might actually have fewer choices, which is what happens a lot when there is no competition.

I, like you, prefer to listen to radio over watching TV. I also like Alex Jones show and Art Bell :-).

I kind of wish our friend here at DU, Guy James, would reconsider the time slot he wants. Prime-time during the week has such stiff competition I think he would do better to get more well known doing evenings or weekends. He might actually have a chance of getting picked up by AAR or someone else, where good off-prime programming is needed. Since he moved his show from Saturdays, I haven't had a chance to listen to him. It's too hard to stream during the week when those pesky things like work get in the way. At least with XM, I can take it with me when I go to different places for my work.

15. Let's See What AAR's New Money Can Do
I didn't expect AAR to still be on the air today...the network has a lot of problems in a radio world that is a financial Death Valley. The biggest improvement this network needs is better marketing and promotion...telling people the network is there...and then to build up both the affiliate base and the programming. They need large, full-time affiliates in the major markets (not the rimshot signals) along with local shows to bring the Progressive message to a more direct level. Do I think this will happen? Stay tuned.

Williams' deal was grandfathered in with Radio One...the owners of WWRL to keep his crappy show on the station (the GM is also a close friend of Williams...that helps, too). While I'm sure many Progressives can't deal with this paid-for asshat, imagine the shock his wingnut listeners must have with that station. I haven't seen ratings, but I can't imagine this helps his advertising.

7. From Marc Maron to Armstrong Williams.
I sure am glad I didn't go out and buy Sirus just so I could get AAR.

16. I know. I've long said AAR has committed suicide in New York.
And just when they had built up a really strong presence on WLIB -- off they went to WWRL - which has a weaker signal and, yeah, Armstrong Williams -- whom they advertise as part of their morning lineup(?!)

I miss Morning Sedition -- and then Rachel Maddow -- in the am.

I don't even listen to AAR on the radio anymore.
