Slimy former patient of mine - big RWer sent me a 'joke'...
which I will not post here. Suffice it to say that it severely denigrated the Democratic Party and CBS News. Har de har har.

The joke's on him however...his eldest son is gay and living in the Village in NY, his other son was living with a beautiful and brilliant African-American gal, and his daughter married a guy much older than she who's an invalid.

All three of his kids are great...I've 'raised' them in my practice for years until they each moved away and finally the Dad (Major Dad - Major Asshole) moved to Florida...the moral of the story is that at least in this case, justice was done.

He is/was one of those hyper educated 'rational' conservatives. You all know the type - they are able to rationalize their bigotry, their anti-humanism, their snottiness toward all things not familiar to them very well by using examples of wayward liberals or liberal icons - as though that proves something. They have only to look in their own backyards for disproof of their theories by counter-example.

3. 'cause he's a p--ck...
sends it to a lot of folks, some of whom take offense and send replies with CC to everyone on his list.

A real putz who got run out of Philly on a professional rail.
angered the wrong folk in power in the city political 'elite' such as they are...

Personally I don't care that he sent it to me...what I find interesting is that the RW have rolled out there anti-CBS bias again I suppose b/c of Bill Plante's question the other day.

9. Gerald wasn't a horrible RWinger in the old days. Really.
He was a real supporter of military personnel in the nineties. Did a bunch of USO junkets, in some pretty rough conditions at times, too. I'd guess you'd classify him as a conservative Republican, but definitely NOT a neocon.

Dunno what he's like now--I enjoyed his work in DEADWOOD. I heard he got lung cancer--not surprising--that guy had a two pack a day Marlboro Red habit.

6. Yes... whenever I hear "Major" I figure "up or out" reject.
Promotions are virtually automatic to O4. Even O5 is not that hard.

8. Letter of continuation to enable them to hit 20. Festering anger from the time they pitch that
letter to the date of their retirement. The shoulder chip, the grumbling about those who moved up when they didn't--but funny, they're often the ones who can't let go of their military careers, and wax philosophically a decade or more after getting out.

10. Exactly. Often insufferable assholes, too.
As though they have to make it clear why they were jettisoned. God knows there're assholes with scrambled eggs, too ... so it takes a special kind of asshole to screw up that bad.

12. You know what...
by not replying to those letters, but positively replying to his Xmas notes and the like...and some occasionally funny dental cartoons, it tends to lessen the number of those shitty ones.

I believe in passive-aggressive approach with these guys. Plus which, I still treat some of his extended fambly and friends (fiends?)

13. "Dear xxx ...
It is with great sorrow and a lot of embarassment that I have to inform you that your prostate exam results have been uploaded to a public posting site similar to Myspace ... totally in error ... honest ...

I hope that this doesn't change our friendship, and that you are not the type that indulges in frivolous lawsuits ..."

14. I hope you billed him properly.
If they're able to "rationalize their bigotry, their anti-humanism, their snottiness toward all things not familiar to them very well by using examples of wayward liberals or liberal icons - as though that proves something." in my office, that's when I get rational & then I'm very able to rationalize billing them properly.

:hi:
