Been watching the FReepers for 9 years. Never seen 'em so dispirited.
I used to go over to Free Republic for the outrageous idiocy, and admittedly there was a lunatic energy there. Whether fueled by hate or belief in Saint W., it was energetic. Now they are reduced to dreary idiocy challenging global warming, the Civil War, and most of all evolution, and whether the Earth is more than 6,000 years old.

Oh sure, there is still the occasional thread as to whether gay people should be fried or "saved" (then fried), and whether Iraq is the greatest war in history, or merely ONE of the greatest wars, but basically it's just not nearly as interesting as it used to be when they loved George W. Bush unconditionally as the Fuehrer, and felt that perjury about sex was the be all and end all of the Constitution.

Luckily, Rush is still out there to tell them that they remain interesting, and that they are right to march in lockstep. But for the rest of us, there is a certain ennui. Am I wrong here?

3. Has beens? How about never were's?
Never had any legitimacy, it's only because there was zero competition on radio. Now AAR and others are out there and it helps people to see the light.

32. Last time I heard that was the day before the 2004 elections.
Sorry to be so cynical, but we've pronounced them dead and buried so many times it's hard to keep a firm grasp upon hope.

Too much shit has happened, and I fear there may be yet another shitload parked just outside the doors.

I simply have no faith left in "the system". Remove Pelosi and start impeachment and we'll revisit this and I'll apologize from the rooftops.

Until that happens it's day by day for me.

10. I think most FReepers are victims of George W. Bush.
Let's face it, most FReepers are the ones who are a single medical event from declaring bankruptcy, or the kind of individuals who are likely to lose their corporate pensions due to massive fraud that enriches the top guys.

Or maybe they are those good families who have lost a child buried at Arlington because they believed that Saddam Hussein was behind 9-11, thanks to "mushroom cloud" Condi Rice.

I can't believe where they are coming from over there. I don't want their guns, and I don't want their marriages to break up because gay people are out there. I want them to live and love.

15. I posted that obscure pic as a reflection that they will do what Rush tells them;
That means support George W. Bush and his family indefinitely into the end of the 21st century. Until Rush dies, that is what he will stand for. And Pierce may yet be "president," like Napoleon III was head of Mexico.

Until Lincoln and Grant had other ideas.

... the imposition of Martial Law followed by a couple words of encouragement from Rush and freepers would be on the march to purge our nation of the evil leftist hordes (that would be us, of course) -- this country's seen their kind unchecked and on the loose before and it ain't pretty:

The old ones just aren't doing it for them anymore. They've been at this so long now that they are having a mid political life crisis - enough of this being saddled with Iraq already, they want a trophy war.

19. I've only been watching them for seven years, but yes you are right
They are dull as dishwater lately. Even when they lost the 2006 election they were still interesting in their hater energy. But now they are just a sorry lot.

I believe much of this dejection is because of their dismal roster of presidential candidates and almost nonexistant chance of any congressional pickups in 2008.

22. Or, how the chickenhawks at the top lied to them about Pat Tillman?
Edited on Sun Jul-29-07 10:20 PM by SpiralHawk
I mean, a genuine American hero like NFL star Pat Tillman being used and then being lied about by Commander AWOL, his VP clown who of having five freakin' military deferments, and chickenhawk sqwakers like Limbaugh, O'Reilly, and Hannity -- who among their lard butts never served America for as much as one day -- but had their hands out to collect megabucks for spewing propaganda.

I mean, after a while how can you not see through the hypocricy of it all? How stupid can anyone be?

It is so obvious...that Commander AWOL and his cabal of chickenhawk war-profiteering cronies are Evil Doers -- and have brought Great Shame upon themselves and the USA. No wonder American Youths, and even the Freepers are DESERTING the ship of state: The S.S. Chimpy AWOL.

The S.S. Chimpy, a republicon liner, has been sailing on a sea of Wine-Dark Propaganda, and Diaper-soaked deviancy.

21. I actually happened on that board before I found this one, I posted very little and
the only time I made a lengthy post was about how I sensed fascism creeping in under Bush. I was called a Dummie and told to go back to my home at DU and I was banned. I decided to check out DU and have been reading here ever since. I have noticed a difference in tone lately especially surrounding Gonzales it seems that many of them see how poor of an AG he is.

Sometimes just reading their board alone is entertainment enough... other times I post when I'm really in the mood to stir up trouble.
