NBC announced they won't show anymore re-runs with Thompson in them after Sep 1 if he announces his candidacy.

Sadly, TNT will not follow suit.

1. Hmmm, that's interesting. I remember that same issue when Reagan ran.
Of ourse back then, there wasn't all these cable channels. I have to believe there's some law somewhere forbidding them to run those older shows or the major networks wouldn't be pulling them either! We'll see what happens.

2. FCC does not regulate cable.

3. Sometimes I think the only thing the FCC does regulate
are breasts and foul language.

6. There's also some debate about equal time. I heard that on CNN yesterday.
That also was part of the discussion when Reagan ran. Airing his old movies was seen as FREE ADVERTISING!

5. Equal Time
It happened with Jesse Jackson, as well - apparently, he appeared (as himself) on an episode of some TV show back in the late 70s. A TV station in NY got in trouble for airing a rerun of the episode back in 84, when he was running for the Democratic presidential nomination.
