http://www.nypost.com/seven/07132007/gossip/cindy/keeping_an_eye_on_britney_cindy_cindy_adams.htm?page=0I RECALL lovely times in the presence of Lady Bird Johnson. At an Advertising Women of New York luncheon, she was honored for her wildflowers, preservation and beautification programs for America. In return, Lady Bird was made an honorary New Yorker. It was quite sweet. She was so touched that she began to cry. I believe a few of us told her we can understand the emotion because now she had the Rights and Privileges that entitled her to ride the New York subway.
And with all the other tributes awarded to her over the years, does anyone know that at the Excelsior Hotel in Jefferson, Texas, built in 1852, there's a twin-bedded room named in honor of Lady Bird Johnson, who went to high school in that town? Maybe now . . . maybe . . . in her forever honor . . . they'll upgrade the former first lady of the United States to a suite.
Lady Bird Johnson was a lovely first lady.
