Talking points regarding Edward's house?
I'm no fan of Edwards but he's one of our guys, and I'd like to know the pro-house talking points.
I read it was 'certified Green'? or something? What else?
Oh yeah - my first response to the Freeper who is bringing this topic up on another site:
"At least he paid for his house. Your guy stole the one he's living in." :D

1. Personally
I would say, yeah, we have a long way to go to get every green technology into our homes, but at least Democrats are all moving in that direction and helping the country do the same.

Because the house isn't as green as it could be, even though it's an Energy Star home, we probably will hear criticisms no matter who the candidate is, and we may as well just accept it up front. We've got a long way to go on green building, all of us, no doubt.

The freepers have their talking points at the ready - and we should know our responses, imo.

6. holy crap - HOW did you know that was next???
I swear - very next comment included a link to something about his haircut...

And YES I feel we should respond. Look what not responding did to John Kerry.

8. They never stop
Kerry did respond. They haven't stopped with their bullshit to this day. Confront them on their small-minded political antics, give a very short answer, and then turn back to issues that matter.

5. Tell them he is living the American Dream, and they should be proud of him
I thought we all dreamed of working hard and building a nice energy-star house.

9. John Edwards **earned** his every penny -- his daddy didn't bail him out time after time...
-What's wrong with Edwards having a nice house? Are Democrats forbidden to do so? Wingnuts will say, "No, but he can't be for the poor at the same time." Bull****! Plenty of wealthy people have poured their assets and resources into the greater good. This is the same argument that wingnuts spew about billionaire George Soros, and it's bunk.
-Edward's net worth is nowhere near that of the Bush Crime Family or Cheney -- they're completely marinated in oil and blood.
-If Edwards wants to live in a big house, shouldn't he have that right?
-Hell, if I had the money, *I'd* want a house with a basketball court!
-All I hear is 28,000 square feet, 28,000 square feet, 28,000 square feet...enough! Let's break it down: Per the Carolina Journal (not exactly a liberal rag :sarcasm:)http://www.carolinajournal.com/exclusives/display_exclusive.html?id=3848 "...the building plans that showed the Edwards home totaling 28,200 square feet of connected space. The main house is 10,400 square feet and has two garages. The recreation building, a red, barn-like building containing 15,600 square feet, is connected to the house by a closed-in and roofed structure of varying widths and elevations that totals 2,200 square feet..." So the living space (which probably has a working office for John Edwards) is 10,400 square feet. Big? yes, indeed, but not palatial. The remaining 17,800 square feet comprises recreational structures and outbuildings.
-Check out Rush Limbaugh's properties: http://celebritytoys.com/homes.htm According to published reports, radio-show host Rush Limbaugh's Palm Beach estate started with the purchase of a modest $6.7 million oceanfront home in 1996. A couple of years later, he bought the northern property for $3.9 million, and in 1999 he bought a $1.2 million adjoining lot. Within months of that purchase, he bought another neighboring lot for less than a half-million dollars. Finally, he bought a neighboring property in 2000 for $2.3 million. Today his entire estate reportedly has an appraised value upwards of $26 million.
-Wingnuts are so hung up Edwards' house. Why? Is that all they have to worry about?
-Since the GOP is going down the rathole (and trying to take everyone with it), the party has *nothing* to spout off about ("Victory" in Iraq? The laughable budget that * just submitted to congress? The "response" to Hurricane Katrina? *'s poll numbers? The fact that at least 70% of the country wants out of Iraq and to be rid of *?) So what does the GOP do? What they do best -- swiftboating, maligning, impugning, character assassination, etc.

11. How about this - as a response to Repubs -
"Sure he has That House. But he's not fat, bald or Mormon like your guys are. I'll take our guy's superficial problem over yours anyday."

(For those scoring at home, fat=McCain, bald=Giuliani and Mormon=Romney)
