'The Blair Years': In '03 a Rumsfeld News Conference caused Blair to go "bonkers"

<snip>

Some key extracts from former Downing Street press chief Alastair Campbell's diaries, 'The Blair Years', which cover roughly from 1997 to 2003.

...

March 2003, in run-up to Iraq war: "Then came another Rumsfeld disaster. He did a press conference in which he (said that Britain) would not necessarily be in the first wave of attacks because of our parliamentary difficulties.

"It was not entirely clear whether it was deliberate .. i.e. a warning shot that they could and would do it without us .. or a fuck-up. We all assumed the latter.

"TB went bonkers about it."

1. There sure seems to be a BIG push on to exculpate tony
and rescue his "legacy" and reputation lately. I don't think it's going to work. He was, is and always will be known as "bush's poodle".
