BREAKING: SCOTUS to hear Guantanmo Case-Reverse Course Agree To Review Indefinite Confinement
High court to hear Guantanamo detainee cases
Justices reverse course, agree to review issue of challenging confinement

High court to hear Gitmo cases
June 29: The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to review whether Guantanamo Bay detainees may go to federal court to challenge their indefinite confinement. MSNBC's Chris Jansing reports.

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court, reversing course, agreed Friday to review whether Guantanamo Bay detainees may go to federal court to challenge their indefinite confinement.

The action, announced without comment along with other end-of-term orders, is a setback for the Bush administration. It had argued that a new law strips courts of their jurisdiction to hear detainee cases.

In April, the court turned down an identical request, although several justices indicated they could be persuaded otherwise.

1. Future news flash:
Today the US Supreme Court who voted 5-4, denied the right of Habeas Corpus to all enemy combatants.

2. Roberts just decided they should have it down on record
that we're now a country that has prisons that rival the Soviet Gulag.

7. I'm sure they will limit it to the netroots and the progressives
all the DLC centrists will be safe.. by virtue of making up the enemy lists. :P

"Senator, I'll sing if you don't jail ME."

I'm packing my bags.

Time to illegally invade Mexico.

4. No doubt to uphold it
Everybody is talking about how Bush is suddenly "powerless" and a "lame duck" in light of the defeat of immigration legislation and his dismal poll numbers, but we are in fact watching the unfolding of the dream of neo-conservatism: The Roberts court destroying the social fabric of the United States and turning back the clock on 50 years of progress. Abortion is next. No doubt in the world. Pray to whatever power you value that Stevens holds up another 20 months, and that a Democrat is elected in November 2008.

The activist judges installed at every level of the judiciary by the Bushite lunatics will definitively transform American society into a nightmare, for they are just as wrong in their judgments as their bungling brothers in the Executive.

10. This should be a stand-alone thread. Bush IS powerless, but the neoCons
are just getting their bats off their shoulders.

6. Roberts has been instructed . . .
By his handlers in the White House to push the entire list of anti-American, neofascist decisions demanded by the Bosses through the court before the wind changes to a gale and it's not so easy anymore or one of the gang of five falls under a bus.
