Edited on Tue Jun-26-07 04:29 PM by endarkenment
I merely mentioned that meanwhile around 400 Iraqis were murdered by our criminal occupation of Iraq today, like every day, and that as usual there GENERALLY IS NO REPORTING OF THE CARNAGE, and what reporting there is gets buried. What leads? This morning it was Paris Hilton. And the benoit murders. We are obsessed with celebrity nooze. I haven't told anyone to do shit. I can suggest that people get over their celebrity obsessions and recognize that they are being manipulated - and how that is facism is an exercise in stupidity that you will have to provide as I cannot begin to figure that out.

Cheers.

9. WHAT has happened to religion?
Yes, I know there were things like the crusades etc, but I'm talking about MY life time. It used to be that religion taught love thy neighbor, human life was precious, hate, anger, & violence were wrong, and MURDER was a serious sin!

Now we have preachers screaming hate, suggesting assinations, and people committing murder apparently based upon something he found in the Bible????

I know we can never go back in history, but what ever happened to "religious people" actually being good?

Religious people have always been about as likely to do good or evil as non-religious people. Religion seems to provide a good excuse for the things people would do anyway.

I guess some people really have some very dark secrets and can fool millions of people, even.

What's most shocking in these cases is how out of the blue they appear. I mean, you always hear the friends and family say that they had no idea anything was wrong.

57. Murder/suicides always are
It's just textbook. Steroids may have contributed to his paranoia/obsessiveness; a hyper-agressive reaction to what is really a fear of abandonment. They may have made his feelings more intense. But I don't think they could have created this problem. These attitudes are formed in childhood.

I'm the first to consider mental illness in murder cases. But when a man kills his wife and family, it's an abuse/control issue. Not one of those 'he snapped' sorts of things.

17. Why do any murder suicides involve the kids?
My guess would be so the kids don't have to go through life fatherless AND motherless knowing daddy killed mommy............twisted, I know.

This is pure speculation on my part. I haven't read much on this except from the posts on DU. I haven't even opened a link........but the weird text messages of a "sick family" prior to finding them dead is a flag.

What I also find strange is the seemingly large numbers of professional wrestling fans on DU. I always thought of the "sport" as violent, misogynistic and phony - you know, kinda freeperish. Again, I could be wrong and I really don't care - just a little surprised is all.

23. Twisted, yes.
Since no person in their right mind would commit an act such as this, I suppose twisted applies.

I'm surprised at the number of fans here also. I'm sure that simply because I've never seen the entertainment value of professional wrestling, and I want to think most people would be the same as myself. I supposed the fact that it has such a large following means that many, many people disagree with me and find it greatly entertaining.

51. It is probably nowhere near as bad as the Ultimate Fighting stuff
because professional wrestling is fake, as far as the rivalries and all that. I guess the "fights" are rigged. Sheer theater. Which is not to say that the people who do aren't athletes and usually very fit. I just find it silly but harmless.

UFC on the other hand is just frightening.

27. Sounds like maybe mental illness?
Just speculating, but his wife was bound and had blood under her head, so it wasn't a fit-of-rage murder. He had time to back out, and binding someone requires calculation. Smothered his soon in a different room, at night, a day later, maybe while he slept, maybe as a mercy killing. I wonder if the son knew his mother was dead. That's a classic mental illness sign--killing a child so the child doesn't have to live a life of pain. The Bible beside each body is an act of contrition, as well as an attempt to help their souls, maybe.

Just speculating. Not an expert, I've just been around a lot of mental illness, so I tend to see it everywhere. It just doesn't sound calculated, especially since he killed himself, and it doesn't sound like an accidental fit of rage, with the wife bound hand and foot. Certainly not with the child killed a day later. He wasn't in his right mind.

Can roids trigger a latent mental illness, or cause one?

But after reading what he did to his wife and his child, I'm not going to immortalize him in any way, shape, or form. EVER. I see the WWE isn't going to do that, either. They removed all of Chris Benoit's merchandise and tribute videos off its website after this story developed.

What really upsets me in all this is that his child was in the house for a full day after his mother was killed. Imagine what that kid went through. :(

And it sickens me to hear they had a 3 hour memorial show to him last night (yeah I know it was supposed to be the McMahon fake death drama show which I also find despicable). BTW steroids reportedly also found in the house which doesn't shock me.

Investigators also found prescription anabolic steroids in the house, Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. He would not comment on Benoit's state of mind or possible motive.
