Interview With the First Two iPhone Campers In NY
These two men are waiting In line to get an iPhone ... Losers

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/video/exclusive-interview-with-the-first-two-iphone-campers-in-ny-272140.php

You know those two guys waiting in line for the iPhone a whole 100 hours early? We've got an exclusive interview with them. Watch as our own Nick McGlynn asks them life's greatest questions: what they're doing here, what they've got in their hands, and whether they have girlfriends.

6. People who line up and camp out to be first for Star Wars, Wii, iPhone, whatever...
I don't know whether to be jealous of them for having so much free time and money, or pity them for not having anything better to do with their time.

Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be just as good six months later when it's in the bargain bin...

13. I love my iPod, and I'm sure iPhone is great
But not so much that I would stand in line for a hundred hours for either.

On the other hand, I think people like this are doing it for the experience much more so than the actual device.

If the device is what they really wanted, they would wait a month or so while the initial issues get resolved.

16. I got my iPod a lot cheaper by waiting a year after they came out.
And I got one with more memory than it would have had had I gotten one of the first ones.

I realize that "bargain bins" don't fit with apple's marketing image, but they do mark down their products.

I might line up to see a good concert, but that's about it. These are just PRODUCTS, one identical to the next.

22. I'm talking about how Apple tends to give a pretty good price on an item...
...when it's nearing the end of it's production run. Usually around 8-12 months after it's introduced, and just before some new whiz-bang better one takes its place.

I've bought all my macs (and my DV camera and peripherals) at the Apple Store for the last 6 years or so.

We had about five or six hundred people camping out for a few days. It was actually a lot of fun. They had BBQs and drank all night. I hung out with the campers after I got off work. A total blast. It can be fun.

34. I only tailgated for 14 hours.

For each of the new episodes, some friends and I took a vacation day, and hung out with all of the other goofy people in line for the movie.

People were grilling, open coolers and having a fun time reliving what it was like 20 years before for the original trilogy.

If these guys think a phone is going to be their life's dream, more power to them. Star Wars got me into the tech industry and gave me my lifelong love of space. It's a silly movie series, but it's still a great time. I hope the phone lives up to their expectations.

...watching the original over and over again in the theater. But back in those days, you could stay in the theater and watch the same show over and over again, and they often had double features.

And at my local theater, ticket prices were $1.25 for kids at the matinee!

Didn't do the long lines thing, but I definitely got caught up in Star Wars fever. I even bought the MECO disco version of the these song, as well as the soundtrack album, which we listened to all the time.

Good times...

So I guess it's like you say, it could be fun, if you have a lot of time on your hands. With work and 2 kids, I just don't.

You are not telling the truth. You post that Apple is a Red company, when they contribute far more to Democrats. You conveniently leave out the most important facts. What you do is like giving baseball stats saying a hitter sucks because he struck out 75 times during the season without ever mentioning he hit 50 home runs, drove in 125 runs, and had a batting average of .330.

30. You post selected facts
and don't give "the rest of the story". You post that Apple is a RED company because they give a few thousand bucks to some local republicans and never tell us the hundreds of thousands they gave to national Democrats. You find one negative article about an Apple product, and never post the links to dozens of positive articles about the same product. You use the same tricks Fox News, Limbaugh, and other agenda-driven punks use.

Motorola V60- an absolutely beautiful work of art...
a once-in-a-generation PERFECT fusion of form and function.

But, as PERFECT as it was, I really didn't have that much
genuine USE for it. I was paying $40 a month for 500 minutes,
and my 2-year average was TWELVE minutes a month.

I'm just too REAL to need to be constantly yakking with

...but after reading up more about them it looks like the iPhone is more like a very small labtop (or palmtop) computer with a very tiny keyboard (it can do almost everything a laptop can) that just happens to be a phone.

Super neat but I still think it's a bit too pricey.

25. you don't need to buy a plan
you simply need to register with AT&T (formerly Cingular). you can take the phone into any AT&T wireless store or call their 800 number to activate. there are thousands of phones for sale on eBay, these, I assume, will take the AT&T smartchip, much like my current blackberry does. no problem.

since there is no rebate on the iPhone as of yet, I asssume that Apple doesn't care if I am a current AT&T customer (I am annoyed, on a completely different tangent, that I am back to being an AT&T customer, I was one before Cingular took them over, now they're back. annoying)

Direct access voicemail? Awesome.
Maps with GPS, tied to their phone listing, with the ability to dial? Awesome.

Now the other guys need to design something to force the price of the new features down to mortal levels.

I could give a crap about a camera or games or the other baloney that's been stapled into phones over the last several years.

Give me something I can use at a decent price, and I'll be a happy camper.

53. Triumph the Insult dog at the Star Wars line
If you haven't seen this, then tape your ribs, you'll need it.. :)

Wonder it Triumph is going to cruise some IPhone lines, that would ROCK :)

Anyone in Hawaii want for me to wait in line for them, you buy me one, and I'll get one for you while I'm there..

56. Man, Triumph could get 6 months worth of material from 3 hours in the iPhone line!
GOOD material too- not just "cheap shots", but cheap shots
that touch the very HEART of our decadent, overprivledged,
out-of-touch "consumer culture".

I hope he's out there somewhere working those lines right now!

59. Who's Paying You To Post This Crap?
Yannow, every time some hedge fund manager needs to move some paper on Apple, you see shit like this - a bunch of negative and false rumors about Apple. I hope they're paying you well ...

60. I think the guy is more about getting on TV than getting a iPhone.
Even Apple blogging people who are just DYING to get their iPhone aren't camping out waiting in line.

Sweaty McTouchscreen is just a guy looking for his 15 minutes of fame.
