9. McNulty is their man, #2 at DoJ, make no mistake about it.
And, the questions have not gone in the areas they want to avoid, like corporate fraud charging, the McNulty Memo, the reasons for Lam's firing, etc.

16. Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.) Public deserves a full accounting on FBI's Abramoff probe
Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Fla.) has been mentioned multiple times in court documents filed by the Justice Department as "Representative #3" in the criminal investigation of Mark Zachares, a former congressional aide to Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) and lobbyist who, last month, pleaded guilty to accepting tens of thousands of dollars in gifts from Jack Abramoff. .............

Public deserves a full accounting from Rep. Feeney on FBI's Abramoff probe

Our view: Time for answers
Public deserves a full accounting from Rep. Feeney on FBI's Abramoff probe
http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070503/OPINION/705030314/1004

There are a lot of questions that demand answers -- answers the public isn't getting but has a right to know.

We're talking about Rep. Tom Feeney's refusal to address specifics of the FBI probe into his relationship with influence-peddling felon Jack Abramoff and the widening congressional corruption scandal in his wake.

An investigation that includes the FBI contacting FLORIDA TODAY and requesting a videotape copy of an interview Feeney did with the newspaper's editorial board last year during which he discussed Abramoff.

The Oviedo Republican accompanied Abramoff on a Scotland golf junket in 2003 -- the same kind of junket Abramoff used to draw other members of Congress and their staff members into his criminal activities.

Was he dropping a big hint to McNulty like tell the truth or this could be for you as well? Because so far McNut is not telling us anything helpful and probably lying again.

And with comments from repugs bathing him in complements he definitly IS lying.

23. He got his answer. McNulty would not assist the Committee. He claims recusal.
So, Numero Uno and Numero Dos at DoJ will not assist the Congress with enforcing subpoenas. Who is number three in the chain of command at DoJ?

Is the DOJ refusing to serve subpoenas on people as requested by Congress?
or
Are DOJ officials refuing to acknowledge subpoenas they have personally received asking them to appear?

33. Bottom line: He refused to answer calling it "recusing himself"
Conyers specifically was asking what the Policy is of the DOJ in helping to enforce subpoenas. He "recused". We don't know from him what the Policy is.

82. He recuses himself from an entire area of DoJ activity because his role is in question
and that means he may have acted improperly and cannot stay involved. Likewise for Gonzales.

In this case, he is saying he will not act on the matter, enforcing subpoenas, because the area of inquiry is one he has already recused himself from participating in. It boils down to 'he might have to subpoena himself' in a very generalized way.

This does not mean DoJ would refuse to enforce Congressional subpoenas. The situation may become one in which #3 has to deliver the subpoenas to #1 and #2, and put them under indictment if they do not comply. You see the problem here. This is like a "firing your boss" dilemna.

...and also to send law enforcement officers to the White House and pull those they have subpoenaed to come testify

....but his seven figure salary in private practice ought to make that feeling disappear pretty quickly

The lying son of a bitch!

99. UNEXPLAINED: Why White House Liason prepares the Deputy AG for Congress.
It just amazes me that Monica Goodling was the one preparing the Deputy AG to go to the Hill. Then, she gets hung out for not doing a good job of it. Who has an org chart of DoJ? How does this make any sense, except as the WH covering up their role in the firings?

102. The subpoenas of Harriet Miers and and Sara Taylor to appear
...next month could get closer to the truth, if the Whit House allows these two to appear:

<snip>
The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday issued a subpoena to Sara Taylor, former White House political director. About the same time, it was announced that the House Judiciary Committee will issue a subpoena in the same case to former White House counsel Harriet Miers.

<deep clip>
A White House statement issued Wednesday said: "We are aware of the Judiciary committees' plans to issue subpoenas. We will respond appropriately. The committees can easily obtain the facts they want without a confrontation by simply accepting our offer for documents and interviews. But it's clear that Sen. Leahy and Rep. Conyers are more interested in drama than facts."

Leahy had warned the White House that subpoenas would be issued if it did not fully cooperate with the Senate effort to provide the desired information. He said earlier efforts to get information from the White House had been ignored.
