$99.64 a day to house female inmates (TMZ.com)

This figure was reported because of the difference it costs to house PH..(1149.00 a day)...BUT what that makes me think of, is this....

If it costs $99.64 to feed.house.look after a female inmate who probably has not committed all that big of a crime (jail-not prison)...then $99.64 a day might be a fair "wage" to aim for in the "real-world",...

Health care is mandatory and free for inmates too, so that would have to be freely included in the "wage"..

It works out to $12.46 an hour..and that would be NET..not gross..

So $7.50 phased in after how many years is nothing but a rhetorical bandaid.

Imagine if these inmates were earning $12.46 an hour with benefits ......on the outside. I wonder how many of them would still resort to the petty crimes that probably resulted in them being locked up..

$12.46 an hour (net) would not make anyone rich, but it would go a long way to finding a place to live and supporting themselves and their kids..

1. And if we didn't jail people who commit crimes that do not harm other

people. Like smoking pot at home. Or driving on a suspended license that was suspended because you couldn't afford the 150 speeding ticket. Half our county jail are for those 2 things.
