1. I missed most of it
I don't usually watch Washington Journal on Fridays because Brian Lamb makes me sick with his snarky little comments. I see he is not hosting today.

I wish I would have seen your post earlier. How were the calls?

3. It's already over, but no one disputed the need for paper.
I was listening with half an ear, but that's the general consensus.

4. No one defended paperless. Bottom line, no one can guarantee
machines can't break or be messed with.

5. Bottom line: without transparent vote counting, democracy is a pipe dream.
We have to have paper ballots to use for audits and recounts. That's the first essential step. The next is equally important, if not more important. We have to have regular, required, robust AUDITS. If the audits are adequate and are carried out transparently, in full view of whoever wants to watch, using safeguards, this is the best that can be done to assure democracy. Hand counted paper ballots and no machines at all would be the gold standard of course, but people are too addicted to computers I guess.

We haven't had a democracy at least since 2002 and probably before that. We are at present worse than a banana republic. Worse.

But this news about Crist in FL is very good news.
