Actor-turned-golfer Rob Lowe 'kills Iowa state bird'
<http://www.dmregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070606/SPORTS1301/70606017/1001>

In his first round on a golf course in Iowa, Rob Lowe got himself a birdie.

Unfortunately, it was a goldfinch — Iowa’s official state bird.

The actor, who currently appears on the ABC-TV series "Brothers & Sisters," accidentally struck the bird with his approach shot on the par-4 No. 4 during today’s Principal Charity Classic Pro-Am at Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines.

Lowe's shot appeared to hit the bird in flight and landed about 50 yards short of the green. "This is my birdie," Lowe said after examining the fallen bird, which was on the ground and not moving as his group walked toward the green. "That's unbelievable," Lowe said as he walked onto hole No. 6. "Who comes here and kills the state bird? Only me."

POOR LITTLE BIRD - Welcome to Des Moines Rob!

11. Don't think so... Lowe continues to be a loyal Dem...
Edited on Wed Jun-06-07 01:13 PM by hlthe2b
as far as I know....

He did support Schwartzenegger, however, so maybe that is what is giving some the (false, as far as I can tell) impression he is now a REPUG.

13. when did he switch to the GOP? got a link?
His sex tape scandal occurred in 1988. He has supported Democratic candidates since that time. The only repub I am aware of his supporting was Schwarzenegger, and he hardly was the only Hollywood Democrat to back Ah-nold.

19. He *plays* a moderate republic...
Senator in "Brothers & Sisters" Calista Flockhart plays his Comm. Dir. and sweetie.
In the plot, she was a very conservative TV personality pre-Rob's hiring her and falling
for her...vice versa, too. Glam couple. :9

6. I thought Rob was a good Dem. WTF is he doing getting involved in
an elitist "sport" like GOLF???

BTW, I happen to like him as an actor and just ignore that little business with the nude video, lol.

Bought 'em at a garage sale for $100. I'm sure they lasted as log as they did only because I was the first left hander who came along.

22. I hear rumors about greens fees in the hundreds or thousands for a round.
Let alone membership fees at country clubs. So yes, it IS an elitist sport IMHO.

Not to mention a silly, boring one, lol.

green fee of $225.

Are you saying that's some sort of rare exception to some "cheap golfing rule"??

30. Wow - the people you know are getting ripped off.
Hubby pays about $25 to play and there are even cheaper city/county-sponsored golf clubs in our area, too.

$250? That must be Club Med pricing.

If I wear a Romney for president button instead of my Out of Iraq button will I play better?

but seem upset/disappointed that he plays golf? I think if you can find it in your heart to overlook one, you can probably overlook the other as well.
