BBC On This Day: Robert Kennedy injured in shooting
http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/june/5/newsid_2658000/2658877.stm

Senator Robert Kennedy has been shot and seriously wounded shortly after giving a victory speech to celebrate his win in the California Primary in a Los Angeles hotel.

Mr Kennedy has been taken to the Hospital of the Good Samaritan where he is undergoing emergency brain surgery.

The 42-year-old senator was greeting hotel workers while being escorted through the pantry of the Ambassador Hotel when a gunman, named as Palestinian immigrant Sirhan Sirhan, fired shots from a .22 calibre gun. -snip-

1. And the BBC is the one to remind us of this - where is the U.S. media?
Oh yeah. AWOL.

3. Feeling very guilty I would suppose.
Their coverage of our leaders murders has been less than legitimate shall we say.

7. They killed John, Martin and Bobby. We know that.
And who else?

We were slipping out of their control, these corporations that own our governments.

The least we can do is know it.

2. Probably behind the shootings.
It sad that the best brightest political minds are snuffed out. JFK, RFK, Wellstone. I seriously hope there will not be more.

4. Where would we be today without the assassinations of JFK and RFK?
Things would definitely have been different, but after seeing the "performance" of our current crop of Dems I'm feeling edgy about our entire government, wondering how long it's been this way: two parties "playing" at politics, keeping us distracted from issues that could really change our lives.

Would a Kennedy plutocracy just be a more benevolent version of the Bush plutocracy?

5. I was on the team
of new young Democrats here in Oregon who had volunteered to work on RFK's presidential campaign. I was calling folks on the phone to urge them to vote for RFK.

He had been in So. Oregon only hours before, and it was yet another shock about the demise of a Kennedy. I won't forget that day any more than I have JFK's assassination.

in government.

And I don't believe for a moment that the shooter was a lone nut. Too many bullet holes for that one gun. God, how stupid do they believe we are.

God bless you, Bobby. We've been so much poorer without you.

The day they killed you, I was 11 and had just walked 2 precincts for you with my mom.

We still miss you every day.
