"Faith Politics" on CNN now... Edwards, Obama, Clinton
Edwards is on first.

He looks mighty red.

First question: Do you believe homosexuals have a right to be married?

A: No

Came back, especially Wade. Prayer played a large role in getting him through, and with EE.

People should be able to talk about who they are, and if faith is a part of it, so be it. I'd like to know exactly what they believe if they are going to let it influence their policies, so I can take that into consideration. The problem is when only people of certain faiths can expect to have a chance running for office, and people feel pressured to talk about it, and people insert it in inappropriate places.

44. Ah yes. But excellence is rare, and I hope that God continues
to bless him and he wins the election, and our nation and the world will be blessed. People seem more ready to believe utter liars and crooks. I do believe Edwards is that good; THAT GOOD! Jealousy always plays a much bigger component in adult perspectives than we would like to assume with supposedly 'mature' people, but it always seems to be there.

24. Bye bye Obama. He supports Israel; so do WE at the tune of 3-4
Million dollars each day since 1949. We supplied thewm with the guns and they supply US politicians with money. Boo on Obama. This debate is beautifully clarifying so far, because I was unsure about Obama, but now I know, and I will not support Hillary no matter what she says.

29. You seem to be limiting your focus on our relations with Israel.
As well as implying the State of Israel supplies American politicians with money.

Sen. Obama just got up.

And Sen. Clinton hasn't even come up yet.

Conflating issues doesn't help discussion, imho.

Just my 2 cents. Thanks.

46. I believe that. Directly or indirectly. And I blame Israel in large
part for the current wars going on in ... shall I count them? How many Wars? Israel is a country my brother loves and my sister in law is fervently devoted to, but I can no longer with conscience support any politician that supports Israel as opposed to other nations. Israel is not a US State! She gets what she gets because she is wealthy, and can and does buy power. Surely you have knowledge of AIPAC, JINSA and all of the monied connections between these groups and our politicians?

To quote you: "Conflating issues doesn't help discussion"

Neither does preventing the discussion of important issues! The primary reason I don't donate to DU now is because every time I have voiced dissent over Israel's policy (the last time during the summer war) I am labeled anti-semitic!

50. Neither Israel nor AIPAC 'buys' power, any more than any other
voice knocking on the doors of Congress to have their concerns heard. And that includes groups we could probably both agree work for our interests in the capitol - ACLU, AFL-CIO, Sierra Club, Environmental Defense Fund, Lambda, national associations of teachers, health care workers, etc. etc.

When I said "Conflating issues doesn't help discussion" I meant just that. Framing any number of national concerns in a framework of our relationship with Israel muddies the discussion.

I recognize your point of view, as far as I can read it, that we ought not support Israel. That's all well and good.

To say that Israel holds some kind of undue influence over our government is conflating the issue.

I don't see anyone 'preventing the discussion of important issues'. This is a discussion.

My personal 2 cents. Thanks for your response.

Or have I just gone bat excrement crazy? I am really impressed by Edwards primarily, but Clinton is not yet out of my picture and I had excluded her prior to this discourse.

47. This was horrible as it continued with Paula Zonked.
It is none of her damned business if a candidate takes Communion and supports abortion. NONE. What is she going to do take it to the Pope?

Every person's religion is their private and personal business. It doesn't belong as grist for a talk show.

49. I hate that woman. I never listen to her garbage and thank
goodness KO is the alternative here at that hour. She should speak about her own prayers and communion and her beliefs about abortion and her husbands beliefs about these issues if she makes it a topic of debate. But those in the media can scrutinize others at will and believe that their lives should remain unexamined.
