3. There were tax breaks attached, right?
At least it finally got an up-or-down vote. BTW, it'll be interesting to see ehat happens in the conference committee since the House version is clean.

7. If there are any tax breaks that help out large corporations or faux small businesses
Then we should rip them out in conference committee, and keep in the tax breaks that will actually help small businesses. That way Bush can't veto the bill without completely fucking himself over.

11. I don't think there's been a veto threat.
But if the tax cuts get taken out in committee, don't expect to see a vote like this on the conference report.

This is the whole story:

"WASHINGTON Feb 1, 2007 (AP)— The Senate voted Thursday to boost the federal minimum wage by $2.10 to $7.25 an hour over two years, but packaged the increase with controversial tax cuts for small businesses and higher taxes for many $1 million-plus executives.

The increase in the minimum, the first in a decade, was approved by a 94-3 vote, capping a nine-day debate over how to balance the wage hike with the needs of businesses that employ low-wage workers.
