Haiti and Health Care Reform- Two Problems That Can't And Won't Be Solved Overnight
Edited on Sun Jan-17-10 12:12 PM by KittyWampus
Both Haiti and Health Care Reform require huge amounts of planning and overcoming almost unimaginable obstacles. Relief in both cases will happen gradually and as part of a long, laborious process.

Reality is like that. Long term gain for the Collective often means Individual loss. Sad but true.

I think a great many DU'ers can't deal with the day to day grind of making things happen.

There are elements of immaturity, impatience and emotional overload in what many express on the subjects of Haiti and HCR. The emotional overload is understandable, if you or a loved one can't afford treatment of medicine. If you are empathetic and touched by the gross suffering in Haiti.

If you insist on being involved in politics, Stoicism is well recommended.

1. I can't see how living a life
wouldn't make one aware of obstacles that are bound to happen especially in a crisis situation.

So, it leads me to believe that they just want to bitch..knowing they'll have plenty of company.

3. I have noticed that some on the DU don't seem to have
had to deal with many obstacles in life. They have had sheltered lives and live with an ideal type of mentality with no real life experiences to temper their expectations.

It is like some of the rich liberals that I have known that will have all these ideals about poor/minority people but have no real understanding of them. When faced with the truth, their prejudices come out and you find they are not much different than the conservatives except for their noble ideals they front. I have very little patience with these people.

My mother always said not to judge someone unless you have walked a mile in their shoes. (I know it comes from the American Indians) I think that is what these people are lacking, an ability to put themselves in the other persons shoes.
