'Fascinating interview with Bush's legal council, a good insight into the USA's Legal quagmire. I think the glaring item of this interview is PROOF, the USA needs to PROVE before the world that these people are who they say they are. Accusations of kidnap for bounty money and settling old scores in Afghanistan and Iraq complicate the issues of how these people got to Guantanamo in the first place. The original contention that they were all found on the battle field has long been shown to be a lie.'

1. Quiet, hushed responses to convey the sincerity of the administration
....complete bullshit! Let's impeach Bush/Cheney now.

2. Interesting video of a not-interesting person
What ice is he? He works extremely hard to look like a nice guy,
like if he was a guest on 'friends', everybody would like him,
and Jennifer Aniston might even wink at him.

But beneath that contrived act, a legal person, trained to act in defense,
the hollow groupthought presumption that pushing a righteous action motive "terrorist"
no longer holds water given the war crimes he and his henchmen have now
participated in.

Behind his attempt to look friendly, it gives him an even more hollow
stare, that someone would put such a face on it, trying mighty hard to
dress up war crimes as an innocent search for liebensraum.

Imagine, any one of us could take a PR spokesperson job for a coupla
minutes on camera to defend the US war crimes abroad, and framing the
issue to look righteous is your only hope, so you make the best out of
hell and collect your paycheck from the devil; soul be damned.

3. What is scary
Is his apparent complete ignorance of the law.

He makes it sounds as if a soldier flees to another country and shed his uniform, he somehow looses the protection of the Geneva Convention. In fact, any solder who has laid down his weapons becomes a protected person and is presumed to be a Prisoner of War. Any soldier, or civilian captured not on the battlefield is protected by the Geneva Conventions. This socalled lawyer, seems to be totally unaware of this concept.

Then he says that the US have hundreds of prisoners at Gitmo it would be more than happy to return to their home countries, but the home countries wont take them. Who's fault is that? Certainly not the US who has called these people the worst of the worst, thugs and killers.

Now, all of a sudden its the home countries fault that these innocent people are stuck in a hell hole never to be released? Disgusting!
