Thanks so much 48percenter!

I think its important for us to note how much these little furballs have helped us all have the strength to remain strong in our determination and efforts to fix this country's problems. I know without mine, I'd have a lot harder time doing what I've done over the last few years. So, especially for those here shown on this tribute, I think we can all also appreciate the indirect contribution they've had to the health of this country too in their passing!

I'm only hoping that Smudge, shown here with Oliver, lives a lot longer. She's a year older than he, and still gives me numerous conversations! She had to go through radioactive iodine treatment this year to head off a case of hyperthyroidism...

58. Constant Companion - Frisky 14, -

Frisky was always at my shoulder, on the back of my favorite chair. She and her brother were found
alone and abandoned in a junked car in West Virginia. The couple that picked them up nursed them
to health. We got her at six weeks. It took a year to get her to show any affection but once that
happened, she was a wonderful companion and quite a beauty. Always at the front door when I came
home from work, she'd then pretend that she just happened to be there. But she was always at my
shoulder on the back of my chair. What a gift. She got a sudden and virulent cancer but
fought and regressed to a kitten-like consciousness, as though to make up for her missed carefree
period.

Thanks so much for this thread.

59. that was beautiful . . . thanks so much for acknowledging fuzzy friends . . .
who are no longer with us . . . knowing what I know about DUers, we can at least be comforted in the knowledge that most, if not all, of these wonderful companions passed with all the love and caring that their humans could muster in their time of grief . . .

I recall when I lost Dusty, my companion of 16 years, some time back . . . having him put down was by far the most difficult decision I have ever had to make, and I agonized over it for many days, if not weeks . . . in the end, I had to do what was best for him -- he had stopped eating, stopped responding to me, and stopped enjoying his life . . . I was with him as my very caring vet administered the injection, and then I went for a long drive and cried my eyes out . . .

bless all of you who took care of these beautiful and loving creatures during their lives with you . . . unfortunately, it's more than many people do with their animal friends . . .

64. I have to send this to my friend
I had to go with him last Saturday to put his beloved Lucky (a big black bear of a cat) down. It's the second one he's lost this year. The only good part is that after Rocky crossed the rainbow bridge, he adopted two cute little gray critters who bring him much joy. This will make him cry but I know he'll love it.

Blessings to all of you who have lost a furry friend this year. They make our lives so much more complete.

93. That's an excellent way of phrasing it
And yes, I did tear up a little watching the video. I imagine that happens to all except only the hardest Scrooges among us.

That was very special. I lost my yellow lab, Ouzo, last month. Glad to see he's in such good company. I'm sure he's made many friends over the Rainbow Bridge.

82. I lost BBoy....
In July this year...He was a 20 Yr old long haired orange cat that my daughter bought to replace one I had just lost...In fact for months, I couldn't even warm up to him, because I was grieving for the one who had died unexpectedly....It turned out that BBoy was the best cat I ever owned in my life..As a baby, my one g.child about loved him to death, and all he did was purr...he never scratched or bit her, no matter what she did to him....Whenever any mother cat we had, had kittens...he was the baby sitter, all kittens loved him, you would find them all curled up in his long fur as though he was the mother cat, while mother took a break...He raised many litters of kittens...I wanted to let him die at his own leisure, but it wasn't to be...He started having seizures, and after the second one...I couldn't allow it to continue...He was very very special...and he's truly missed...wb

Putty looks just like my Remy, who disappeared over 5 years ago.

I'm certain he met his end with a coyote.

I had him for 11 years, longer than any other cat I've had.

I didn't have a digital picture of him, but Putty does like so much like him.

The pain does subside, but we never, ever forget them.

I think we will all meet again.

Thank you so much.
