3. WAS CIA using a "six degree of separation" type software with data mining & find ATTA & Still not

When did the government have access to the software we know they have that acts as a "six degree of separation" game to draw connections between people (and their data: email, phone calls, computer tracking etc., credit card use). This program was originally developed for Vegas casino owners to use in order to cut down on cheaters. They were finding that dealers of the cards and the card players would know each other and that would, of course set up a situation for cheating. They had a break through when a wiz kid developed a program that could check the background of two people and find any occurrences of coincidence up to several degrees of separation. The government took this program. Perfected it. Used it, not on two people, but on a stream of data mined from AT&T and other companies.

Did they use this or a similar, less exhaustive program at the time of 9/11 and find Atta? Or did they just know him from the old fashioned way - he used to work for us.
