On Friday’s “New Rules” segment, Bill Maher informed Republicans that it’s time to stop calling the “Occupy Wall Street” protesters “hippies”. “Woodstock was 42 years ago,” he says. Maher visited Occupy DC and says that contrary to what some people might expect, no one offered him “a single marijuana cigarette”, which he found a little disappointing, actually.

5. I usually don't care much for Maher and just last week or so he was mocking OWS
but this time - I have to say I throughly enjoyed what he had to say

13. That was before one of his guests (don't remember his name) mopped the floor
with a RW-er Mayer likes to bring on his show, about OWS ... and the crowd went completely berserk,
rose to their feet with thundering applause .... I guess Bill Mayer cares about his ratings too.

14. That would be Alan Grayson, smashing P.J. O'Rourke, to a standing O.

8. Guys like Mahr
Are good at reading the zeitgeist, they will bend with it and don't really hold any strong principles. I agree with him on general social and most political issues but that's about as deep as it goes.

16. It's a good thing that you caught him out in that. He almost fooled us.
I mean there he was asking questions, pointing out hypocrisy, and blowing all over the place on everything except social and political issues.

Whew. That was a close one. Thank god you caught that.

9. Do the old white guys that write the Republicans talking
points not realize that there are about 100M Americans who have no idea what a hippie was or why.
Hell probably half of this countries population was born after or immigrated after the Civil Rights movemen and haven't a clue why ti was such a big deal.

Want proof? Think Herman Cain, or Clarence Thomas both of whom suffer from total amnesia about their own educational and professional opportunities.

getting across the idea that hippies were a negative -dirty, irresponsible and wrong about everything. This country has become immersed in a sea of ignorance that is cheerfully encouraged 24/7.
