This year has been a particularly difficult year for those American workers who are members of unions. We’ve seen unprecedented attacks on union workers coming from states like Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Florida, and things only appear to be getting worse. This week, the GOP successfully managed to partially shut down the FAA – the organization in charge of maintaining airport safety – because they were unhappy with airline employees’ unions. Sam Seder talks about the GOP’s anti-union crusade with Laura Clawson, a contributing editor with The Daily Kos.

1. The difference that Democrats understand what a metaphor is, Republicans don't.

When Obama says "We need to bring a gun to a knife fight," his audience knows he means that their tactics need to be more powerful & more effective than their opponents.

When Palin, Bachmann and other Republicans say "We need to lock & load," their audience knows they mean that they should get out their guns, take a cartridge, put it in the magazine, load the magazine, cock the gun & point it at their opponents.
