| 1. And he invited her on in the first place because? |
| 3. Because, as he stated, he thought she would address the birth |
certificate. I mean, considering all the resources she wasted with her idiotic charge, it would have been awesome. On the up side, it shows how clueless, racist and vicious she is. I'm glad he had her on. If there's a "somewhat" sane afterbirther our there, perhaps this will snap them out of it.
| 60. birthers aren't going to be watching o'donell's show. but i can see why |
he would have her on.you can't just have people who agree with you all the time.
| 120. It wasn't for birthers. |
| 103. 1. Many of us have never seen her. 2. To see if he could get her to respond to the BC. |
| 118. I got this.... It is because "ENTERTAINMENT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!!!!!" |
How can anybody NOT find this entertaining?!?!?!?
| 127. And he invited her on in the first place because? |
DRAMA!
This is theatre at its best. Great reality TV.... only RuPaul's Drag Race is better! I love it!
| 150. I LOVE RuPaul, too. I fell on the floor the first time I heard, "Lip sync for your life!" |
| 2. Ridiculous. Why did O'Donnell have this moron on? |
| 4. Because she is the one that has been filing all the bc lawsuits. |
And because she said she would come on and discuss the bc issue. But she didn't. And she didn't apologize to Our President. She is a NUT and trash!
| 41. So she confirm, if anyone had any doubt, that she's a moron. |
And insane, to boot.
And probably to give a prelude to how the judge will be with her at the hearing. I suspect he or she will be just as surly about it.
| 5. He got down right angry.... |
I know he was trying to get her to come clean, but repigs will never admit to being wrong on anything. Acting like O'liely was kinda weird.
| 9. No. GOOD that he went off on that fucking nutcase. We need MORE of that. SLAM em ! |
but don't kick her off, Who knows what more idiotic crap he could have gotten out of her.
But when we treat their kooks with respectful interviews it does not get rid of their idiocy. It ends up looking like the same false balance bullshit that let that lying tool get as much attention as she has so far.
I think his response was appropriate.
| 180. but don't kick her off, |
He refused to provide her with a platform for spewing her stupid racist theories. She was there to talk about the birth certificate and explain her past behavior, not to promote her next delusion.
please please please knock the smile offfffff her face!!!!!!! They think its funny...even when they are wrong. "KEEP SMILING RETHUG ASSHOLES KEEP SMILING"!!!!!
| 143. Chris Matthews laid into a Tea Party nutjob... |
yesterday. He kept asking the guy if he was now convinced that Obama was born in this country, but the guy kept dodging the question and smirking and laughing, and Chris really laid into him and asked him "Do you think this is funny?!" He made the jerk look like a total fool. It was priceless!
We need to throw this ridiculous shit back in their moronic faces whenever possible. And with FORCE! I hope she goes bankrupt filing these bullshit lawsuits.
Me too.
This "all opinions are valid" and "Balance facts with fair and balanced lies" bullshit meme the media has adopted since the GOP invented it has GOT TO GO. When someone's opinion is pure crap and totally nonviable, it should be vigorously pointed out..... in public.
| 22. sometimes you have to fight fire with fire ! |
| 31. Absolutely right.Even when presented with the truth they can not accept anything but their opinion. |
| 32. She could only change the subject. That's what tea party dummies do-change the subject |
| 33. The judges have laughed her out of court. She's pathetic.Reminds me of Ann Raynd |
| 71. doesn't she owe a ton of money for filing those |
frivolous lawsuits?
He should have asked her if she's paid her fines and why not... seems this court date she's got is contemptuous of her previous court decisions against her... I hope she can be snatched up a notch on that.
How dare someone who talks like she talks try to cast aspersions on Obama's citizenship. He's more of a citizen than she ever will be.
| 202. Apparently only 16 year old cheerleaders who are raped and asked to cheer for their rapists |
and sue get forced to payback money for lawsuits they dont win.
| 83. I think that is her goal. |
Way to restrain yourself Lawrence. Damn good theater to have bat shit crazy on for a min.
| 95. Not to be a pedant but you spelled it wrong.. it's Whine Rant |
| 158. amusing isn't it that someone who wasn't born here is harassing |
| 43. No, somehow I think repubs will be scattering away from her. |
It's not that she didn't come clean, she might have at least said, "Well, I want to see if it has been forged," but she absolutely refused to talk about it and instead tried to switch in some other "evidence." That's what was out of bounds.
| 6. "Can I get a closeup of this?" I love the way the director obliged: tight shot of her finger. |
| 73. the director and the camera operator are my heros! |
| 135. "This is a close up?" |
| 7. Unnecessary air time for the loony |
| 51. I agree that she needs to be called out, but I wish we'd be more sensitive to the mentally ill |
I agree this whole birther thing has been pretty destructive. However, she appears* to be suffering from some kind of paranoid disorder. While her views are harmful, I wish we could call her out without being so mean about it. Mentally ill people don't ask to be mentally ill. I wonder if anyone has ever tried to convince her to get help.
*Disclaimer - I am not a psychologist, I am not familiar with her medical or mental health history, and this is just my personal opinion based on what I consider to be her very paranoid, bizarre conspiracy theories.
| 56. she's crazy, and she's an ass. How's that? |
| 65. It's fine. Birthers never should've gotten media attention in the first place, anyway. |
It was always a very nutty, paranoid theory. Manipulative people championed her cause for political reasons. It's kind of sad though to see mentally ill people exploited.
| 104. If you feel that she deserves sympathy |
then you should go and hug every republican that you know and see.....then ask all of them to seek help.
| 119. There's something to this point. I'm wondering if she isn't kind of special or at least |
at the very low end of the normal spectrum and is being used, not uncommon these days.
| 138. Mentally ill people in positions of power or influence |
She's a shameless self-promoter. Trump in a cheap dress, that's all. I think O'Donnell handled it the right way. All she is trying to do with the entire thing is self-aggrandize, and when it turned out that she couldn't succeed on her pet fake issue anymore, she just tried to use the spotlight to make another fake pet issue to keep getting attention.
| 8. Glad he said it how it is: SHE IS FUCKING CRAZY ! I love it. Simple as that. |

That was fun.. Its just shows the Birthers won't let this go.. Even if there was film footage of the birth, They would believe it was filmed on the same sound stage as US The Moon Landing, at some NASA facility.
| 25. I saw a survey on MSN.com today- |
of over 160,000 respondents (as of this afternoon) Nearly 38% of them were still not satisfied that Obama is an American. So you're absolutely right, the birthers will never let this go. Not even if the birth certificate was notarized by Jesus.
| 115. Has Jesus ever produced his birth certificate? |
How do we know he was the son of God? Also, was he a notary? Didn't know that...
Gawd, it's easy being a birther!
| 162. 160,000 respondents sounds like an internet poll with no controls on multiple voting. |
Just an educated guess, but I doubt that MSN would pay for a panel that large. Internet polls on news sites are easily manipulated.
| 199. All it takes is one little line of script |
I've seen polls recently that don't allow multiple votes from the same IP address. That's certainly not foolproof, but it does substantially cut down the degree to which regular people can cheat.

She makes Michelle Bachman look sane.
And seriously - how much crap has that woman injected into her lips? I think it's cutting off circulation to her brains.
| 27. "Brains"? As in more than one? |
While i might buy the theory that she has one in her head and one in her ass like the brontosaurus, which one does she use for "thinking"? Does she fear rectal thermometers?
| 28. I know her -- we use the same pharmacy. |
| 168. I have to caption that lovely photo: |
High, I am Orly Taitz, and I would like to tell crazy producer who tight shot my finger instead of precious document of selecting service I have important job of making Michele Bachman look sane. Now I go file suit, thank you.
Cheri Oteri is the champ!! And you, you remembered how perfect this is!
| 47. re OMG She's batshit crazy |
I never thought I'd see anybody that would make Bachman look sane, but you are absolutely right.
| 106. ha ha I thought the same thing |
That she makes bachman look sane(r).
Now how sad is that... anyone that can make bachman appear sane(r) IS a total wackjob.
| 29. You know when eyes are drawn or painted |

on the closed eye lid, well that's what her eye make up looks like. Really creepy to look at. I hope I never have to see that crazy woman again.

about a year ago. All candidates were required to attend a workshop on financial reporting requirements. She got there 45 minutes late, her eye lashes beat her by 5 minutes.
| 30. Who looked crazier there? |
O'Donnell is an embarrassment.
I thought he was great. Is he not human? Some people get angry at injustices. Apparently you are not one of them.
| 99. no, those getting upset at O'Donnell are "THE" embarrassment |
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 10:08 AM by fascisthunter
the american embarrassment
If confronting a liar and trying to get them to answer a simple yes or no question is an embarrassment to you.... that sounds crazy and sad to me.
Sheesh, glad I don't live in your shame filled world.
| 112. You're right, confrontation serves an important purpose. |
Childish temper-tantrums are only self-serving. After calling out her refusal to answer the question, he could have hit her with another, and another, and another. Instead of a check-mate, it ended as a stalemate. And to many people, she probably came off as the saner of the two.
| 126. LOL she certainly didn't come off "saner" to me. |
I saw no childish temper tantrum from the moderator. What I saw was a moderator of a show that refused to let the guest lead and dominate his show and controlling the situation and preventing the insane guest from spewing additional lies and garbage while at the same time she was refusing to answer a simple yes or no question that she herself has been ranting about for over two years. How the world does that make O'Donnell the crazy one What most people saw was a crazy woman refusing to give credence to her own made-up, racist, bullshit lies.
| 151. Watch it with the sound off and your rose-colored glasses removed. |
Taitercakes is smiling calmly throughout. OD is yelling and flailing his arms around. After he's done yelling at her, he then starts yelling at his audience. With optics that bad, the substance hardly matters. She had good reason to smile.
| 157. That's what bat-shit crazy people do best. |
Upset the sane folks then sit back and smirk thinking they are the righteous saints. Common sense, context and character matter and I don't see justified frustration and anger as a negative.
So if I go out and plant negative/questionable seeds about you or your family and if you show any anger or frustration while I sit calmly back and smile, I win?
God it's a bassackwards world.
| 190. Watch it without hearing the *substance* of the segment? |
If watching her without sound makes her look "saner", it's because she comes across like a robot spouting out programmed idiocy & completely devoid of human emotion. She knew beforehand what the subject was going to be, as Lawrence explained, yet she refused to acknowledge the birth certificate &, instead, showed up programmed to a different subject mode of idiocy. Good on Lawrence for not allowing her bait & switch tactic.
| 187. You thought Orly scored points there? |
from both sides ...
who can't see this?
| 35. I agree. "They" put her out there now, the public hanging. nt |
| 114. Repukes have been kicking our collective ass with theater for too long. Time we |
learned a thing or two about it ourselves!
| 37. Someone's gotta pay $20k court sanction real soon. Orly. Orly |
Dumb ass bitch is gonna pay the 20k frivilous lawsuit sanction or do the time. Cant wait to see LO' Rewrite on that day.
| 39. I don't know why he wasted his time |
and ours. I could have predicted she would act just the way she did. These people shouldn't be given airtime by legitimate news organizations.
| 74. to expose her... and good he did |
she's supposed to be paying a fine for filing frivolous lawsuits... now she stands in contempt of that and I hope they throw her ass in jail.
| 40. Actually Lawrence proved there is no reasoning with them |
I was glad he didn't let her go off on some other strange conspiracy on his show.
There's a reason to put these knucleheads on the airwaves...to demonstrate just how far out in lala land they really are. To think that some "news" outlets were really taking this nut seriously says a lot.
| 113. Precisely! A lot of people who've never seen her, know about her now. GOOD TIMING. nt |
| 42. Wow. I'm not normally one to think hosts should be kicking their guests off the air |
since I generally associate it with O'Reilly just trying to silence valid opinions, but in this case Lawrence did the right thing. This woman was clearly not going to admit the truth or apologize, she was simply looking for air time to spread more lies. To let her do so would've been a great disservice to justice and she would certainly take it as a victory. Unfortunately, this does show that the extreme birthers aren't going to give an inch even in light of the proof we saw today.
| 44. They broadcast the president's social security number |
I can't believe they gave her that close-up on a document they hadn't seen.
and it's publicly available anyway
| 154. You could see it (as I did) |
And regardless of whether it can be obtained from other sources, it is still improper to have it broadcast like that.

Not. Holding. Breath...

can talk about the royal wedding and what kate wore!! and i am sure there are plenty of things to fill air time besides war.
| 163. They're waiting for #4... |
which it looks like could be coming any day now.
| 48. Deportation is in order (NT) |
| 49. I feel kind of sorry for the woman. She appears to have some kind of paranoid disorder or something |
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 02:31 AM by franzia99
It's a little mean for the media to trot her out, have her talk about her crazy theories, and then bash her. I wonder if anyone's made a serious effort to try to get her help.
And to be clear, I am not a psychologist and I'm not familiar with this woman's medical or psychological history. It's just my personal opinion that she seems pretty paranoid.
| 53. I don't like Lawrence O'Donnell. And this interview has not changed my mind. |
It was pointless.
He knew ahead of time that she would continue with her nonsense.
6 minutes of wasted airtime that could have been spent covering something of importance.
| 59. I can't stand him. Consequently, I've stopped watching MSNBC |
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 05:11 AM by neoralme
altogether. I have pretty much stopped watching all tv.
| 67. I don't like interviewers who interrupt their interviewees after a microsecond |
I've never seen O'Donnell's show before, but he comes across as an O'Reilly style bully who asks a question and doesn't let the person answer.
"Do you accept the veracity of the birth certificate?" "I..." "SHUT UP!!!"
I was not going to post anything, but this is the first I had seen him and the FIRST thing that came to my mind was O'Reilly.
| 88. He asked her a "yes" or "no" question. She refused to answer it. He asked again for a yes or no |
Again she refused and tried to talk about Obama military. She would not talk about the birth certificate. So I found it very instructive. I want you to note how many Rebublican politicians etc will not answer yes or no questions. Personally I am fed up with that kind of intellectual dishonesty.
| 166. How do we know she refused? |
He interrupted before she had the chance to say anything at all.
| 181. The first word out of her mouth was neither "yes" or "no" |
| 183. By the end, there was no "first word out of her mouth" |
The guy interrupted before she could even open her mouth.
| 184. Because she wanted to push Some Off Topic Shit About Obama Selective Service |
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 06:25 PM by emulatorloo
The question was Do your accept the birth certificate, yes or no.
She knew what the question was ahead of time.
She had assured O'Donnell's production team that she wanted to address the birth certificate.
She did not answer the question because she wanted to distract and change the subject. This is a typical strategy of teabaggers, birthers and Republican politicians.
They do not answer the question that was asked, they try to answer a question THAT WASN'T ASKED.
| 94. I'm not so sure he wasn't letting her answer, it was more like he wasn't going to |
let her answer a question that wasn't asked.
| 54. O'Donnell is desperately trying to get ratings. I left the room before she came on. |
| 57. who's not trying to get ratings on corp tv? |
| 62. Great! So now the meme is going to shift to the Selective Service |
Why HAVEN'T we seen Obama's Selective Service documentation?
What is the President hiding?
So on, so forth, these idiots...
I was reading somewhere that, now that Obama pretty much pwned the Birthers, his campaign won't have anyone to point to as fringe within the GOP. PLEASE! Oily Taintz just proved they're not going anywhere and they certainly haven't run out of nonsensical distractions. And I'm sure ol' Slumlord Tribblehead'll pick the baton up and run with it. What's next, the Statement of Baptism? Proof of graduation from Harvard? License and registration???
| 79. There's a very simple explanation - there was not requirement to register when he turned 18 |
For quite a few years after the Vietnam War ended ALL aspects of the draft were done away with, including the requirement to even register. As I recall that started in 1975, and I believe the President would have turned 18 in 1979 so he never would have been required to register (just as I wasn't).
Now as for Donald Trump - he turned 18 in 1964 when the draft was going strong. I'd love to see documentation of how he avoided service.
AND - after seeing Oily Taitz on Lawrence last night, well, I'm positive that she's really Robin Williams in drag.
| 87. While there is no more draft, men turning 18 are still required |
to register with Selective Service.
From the Selective Service web site:
If you are a man ages 18 through 25 and living in the U.S., then you must register with Selective Service. It’s the law. According to law, a man must register with Selective Service within 30 days of his 18th birthday. Selective Service will accept late registrations but not after a man has reached age 26. You may be denied benefits or a job if you have not registered. You can register at any U.S. Post Office and do not need a social security number. When you do obtain a social security number, let Selective Service know. Provide a copy of your new social security number card; being sure to include your complete name, date of birth, Selective Service registration number, and current mailing address; and mail to the Selective Service System, P.O. Box 94636, Palatine, IL 60094-4636.
| 89. THAT'S NOW - WE DIDN'T HAVE TO REGISTER THEN - LAWS CHANGE |
As I said, for a number of years starting in 1975 we didn't even have to register. I turned 18 in 1976, I never registered. I'd have registered if I was supposed to but I didn't have to. The law was changed to reinstate the requirement to register several years later.
| 93. Only a SMALL segment never had to sign |
Only those born between March 29, 1957, and December 31, 1959 were completely exempt.
| 142. Yes indeed, Laws change: Please see this information |

from Wikipedia regarding Carter's proclamation 4771:
On March 29, 1975, President Ford signed Proclamation 4360, Terminating Registration Procedures Under Military Selective Service Act, eliminating the registration requirement for all 18–25 year old male citizens.<9>
On July 2, 1980, however, President Carter signed Proclamation 4771, Registration Under the Military Selective Service Act, retroactively re-establishing the Selective Service registration requirement for all 18–26 year old male citizens born on or after January 1, 1960.<10> Only men born between March 29, 1957, and December 31, 1959, were completely exempt from Selective Service registration.<11> The first registrations after Proclamation 4771 took place on Monday, July 21, 1980, for those men born in January, February and March 1960 at U.S. Post Offices. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays were reserved for men born in the later quarters of the year, and registration for men born in 1961 began the following week.<12>
You may indeed have had to register for Selective Service.
| 128. That wasn't in effect in 1979. |
Just as it wasn't in 1975 when I turned 18. I went to register, and the guy told me not to bother since registration was being done away with.
It wasn't until the Rethugs returned to power that the registration started up again.
| 155. It kicked in that year |
I turned 18 in 1981, and we had been advised of the requirements at school in my junior year.
During the first year, there was something like a year to register after turning 18, then it went down to something like 6 months.
| 63. Just more idiotic Kabuki theater. |
Lawrence O'Donnell instead of becoming a "tough Progressive newsman", it seems here anyway, has become a leftish version of rush and limpey. Not my cup of tea. I don't like "professional wresslin" either.
Lawrence O'donell is doing what "EVERY MEDIA PERSON SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING"! Holding these people accountable for their actions. I think he's better than all of them. Rush and Limpey just "LIE". They don't have the GUTS to do what O'donell does!
| 64. There is something incredibly ludicrous about a Russian born |
woman who grew up in Israel leading this insane charge to disprove Obama's citizenship. It kinda begs the question, who the hell does she think she is and why would she even care, other than, like Trump, she's an egomaniac self promoter.
| 68. I turned it off at "Can I have a closeup please?" |
I can't listen to this fool. So I missed Lawrence's meltdown, but I get the idea. What a waste of oxygen this woman is.
he went hard in the paint on that bitch and she deserved it. Fucking idiot.
| 75. Why don't we deport her? |
| 78. Please no more of these type of videos |
The issue is dead. This is ok because it was yesterday but will not watch anymore if posted. The media is to blame imo for the POTUS having to stoop to such madness to be forced to address it. They're a minority of bigots/sociopaths who will never accept his presidency. The media should now but these people on ignore and so should we. Why ODonnell even thought an apology would be forthcoming is naive. But I do applaud him for removing her from the broadcast. Her 15 minutes of fame is over and ODonnell proved she is incapable of receiving or giving logical thought.
| 80. Very well stated! I agree, please no more! |
This is not even sound television journalism to put these sociopaths in front of a camera in the first place. They should be in long term highly medicated treatment in rubber rooms, not before television lights.
| 131. No they must be seen |
| 179. Honey, if one needs to look and smell the bullshit to know it's bullshit |
one leads a pathetic life.
Those of us who know what a rose smells like, know what bullshit smells like.
Those who can't tell the difference, no amount of exposure to shit will enable them to tell the difference between the two at this point.
No more promoting these sociopaths, treat them as one would any OTHER sociopath, protect our innocent citizens from being forced to listen to their crap.
If one can't tell how bad they are by now, and need more viewing of them, question why !
| 86. correction in spelling |

The media should now "put" these people on ignore
| 191. "Please no more of these videos" ??? There are a lot of us who *do* like watching |

baggers get put in their place. If you don't want to see them, the easier remedy is to simply not click on them, rather than asking that no one ever post them again.

and Farah and Trump too. Seriously.
| 85. Whatever happened to.... |
the need to support the President during a time of war? Republicans were claiming anyone who questioned Bush was a traitor. The hypocrisy is sickening.
| 90. Lawrence O'Donnell is the man |
best show on MSNBC now! sorry Ed love u too!!!!
| 91. To The ANTI_ODONNELL FOLK: L.O. asked her a YES or NO question |
She would not answer yes or no.
He asked again, Give me a YES OR NO answer about the President's birth certificate.
Again she refused
Again he pressed for a YES or NO answer on the birth certificate
Again she went off on a tangent.
I saw the exact same thing with a birther on Hardball.
In fact I see the same thing with almost every tea-bagger or Republican politician - If asked a Yes or No question, they obsfugate and try to change the subject.
So I for on appreciated L.0.s persistence in pressing her, and found the interview very illuminating.
| 109. It's his frakking show. MUST not establish a precedent for inviting people on to talk about somethin |
g and then they are allowed to go off and talk about something else. That just simply would not work.
| 117. "That sermon was incredible", said the choir director. |

"It's too bad all the congregants left halfway through."

I'm terrified he's going to get sued or lose his job, but what he did was the right thing.
| 97. I don't get it. Why the fuck do we care if they "believe" anything or not? They are idiots and not |
worth any airtime. Why are we catering to assholes? I really
don't understand. Air time is expensive.
And to give her the air time is to add credibility to her
stupidity.
Not worth getting anybodies panties in a knot.
| 98. AWESOME... this is what should be happening to these fascist frauds... |
I love it.... now to rub it into the faces of their wierd ass anti-american-work-for-the-billionaire-losers!
| 101. Oh, great...give her more air time, why don't you? |
He can't have thought she'd do anything other than exactly what she did. No one needs a demonstration of how crazy and hateful these people are. We need to take microphones away from these haters, not give them more attention.
| 105. People are yelling all over the place, so big deal about that. We all here at DU are unusual. |
Many/most of us have seen her. Not so out there in the normal world. This issue is now front and center, GOOD TIMING to introduce OT to the wider audience, most of whom I would bet had no idea how ODD, or just downright stupid she is.
| 107. she is just a delusional racist PoS. |
| 108. I wonder if Russia and Israel kicked this idiot out for the same kind |
of things she is doing here?
| 110. The segment was awesome; I applaud O’Donnell |
| 116. Never wrestle with a pig in the mud. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it. |
| 121. So he is the lefts version of oreilly |
Sorry to buck the trend, but what we have here is a complete douche bag, interviewing an idiot. She obviously is not going to say what he wants to hear. Why does he have so much anger? He really over did it. She cant put a sentence together and he is screaming at her, what is that going to accomplish? He has the look of hate in his eyes, did she like rape his child or kill his dog or something? These reporters (if you can really call them that) on both sides need to get over this thuggish interview style. Assholes like O Riley and this guy are why people are turning their backs on cable and tv news.
| 124. yeah, when poor teabaggers don't get to change the subject and spew batshit crazy lies... |
... god kills a kitten.
Something to be "concerned" about, obviously.
LOL.
| 130. why does he have so much anger...? |
| 132. There is no lefty counterpart to Bill O'Reilly |
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 12:23 PM by Zambero
Unless he is a shameless hypocrite. Specifically a harrassing sexual predator who, once caught in the act, buys off his victim to avoid prosecution, and subsequently does not miss a beat railing on about the moral depravity that is bringing this country down. And doing it with a straight face, looking directly into the camera. Expressed anger alone does not complete the characteriztion of what a "Bill O'Reilly" type character might be.
| 148. Ive seen a lot about Oreillys anger on this site |
and about how he doesn't let people get a word in or answer questions. If you were to read the transcripts of this, and remove the names and topic. I bet most would say it was Oreilly. When you come off this strong on any point of disagreement. It takes the prospective out of things. How can you show anymore displeasure? Put a grenade in your mouth? She could have done well just answering his question with an affirmative NO. He would have lost it regardless of what she said I think.
The whole stupid birther thing was/is a joke. If people want to spend their time focusing on the dumb things and getting all pissy about them, how are they going to make a difference in the important things? You cant say that the birther issues is a non-issue and at the same time freak out emotionally about it. Cause if it wasn't a issue you wouldn't be so angry. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the frizzy hair wacko holding the selective service paper at all. He would have just done better starting the whole thing off and saying:
"I invited "crazy women" on my show to defend her position, but its a non issue so I'm not going to bother with her..... NEXT."
| 167. So basically you're trying to equate cutting the mic to an orphan of 9/11 |

with not giving a platform to an idiot whose claims have just been proven to be an utter fabrication and who refuses to stick to the topic at hand with all sorts of tangential excursions and more obvious lies.
This is a rare form for that guy at MSNBC, while it is a pattern for Bill O'Reilly.
You're too obvious dude. It is always the same, you and your pals' "concern" sense always tingles when a moderate liberal gets off the script and shows some emotion, while you have no problem with years upon years of conservative extremism on the media.
| 136. Their righeous anger and then their is BS anger |
Lawrence is the former. She agreed to come on to talk about the birth certificate and then she proceeds to bring up yet another canard with a Selective Serivce form.
| 123. I think she should be deported. |
I find her a threat to our President and National Security.
| 125. Nice ass kicking Lawrence. |

Would love to see more of this slamming of repukes.

| 139. General question - I realize that not all law schools are equal, academically... |
but isn't there some minimal level of intellectual rigor required to qualify for a law degree?
Seriously, she seems to just flounder around and have no legal skills at all. What's with that?
| 141. before I answer. DimSon's not a lawyer is he? |
| 160. No. He has an MBA. IIRC, he applied to law school but was rejected. n/t |
| 140. SH%T....I wanted to hear what she saying - wish he had let her |

talk and then chewed her up and spit her out.
| 144. She looks like an older Lady GaGa |
| 145. I felt almost as good as Lawrence did...and normally |

I cringe when anyone becomes the target of blustery challenge in that vein.
Was it theater? Yup. Was it deserved? Yup. Was it payback? I think so. Was it necessary? Doubtful. Was it going to change the political world? Nope. Did I enjoy it? Amazingly so.
My disgusted opinion of birthers and the majority of Republican men and women who stoop to new lows to embrace a beligerant, classless, immature and unintelligent view of the *rest of the world* has reached a new high.
Though my upbringing has been to walk a higher path if possible, and to kill with kindness...the character deteriorization of my country has gone so far that ...yeah...now, despite Mom and Dad's wonderful lessons...I occasionally have the urge to frustratedly scream *Get them OUT OF HERE!*
I watched the take-down twice. I didn't feel badly at all. I will watch him every night, turn the channel sometimes, agree whole heartedly other times. Sometimes I will smile BIGTIME. Last night was one of those times.
peace, Lilly
| 146. Enjoyed that, thanks for posting it. Rec'd. |
He is exactly right when he says she is insane and it'd be a lot more helpful if other people recognized the severe mental problems people like her have instead of giving them some sort of credibility as a different side to some invented argument.
| 147. Thank you Lawrence O'Donnell of MSNBC "Final Word"! |
can be defined as doing the same thing, over and over again, in exactly the same way, and expecting different results. To expect this nutsy lady to stop being what she is and has been for so long, is as much insanity on LOD's part as it is in Her own, I respect what he does, but LOD asked a cracked pot to become a wine (whine?) jar. It isn't going to happen. Time to just move along...
| 153. I don't think he was expecting that she'd answer. He wanted to show what she'd do. & |
Public confrontation on the issues is not "doing the same thing, over and over again", it's doing something different.
The "same thing" would be to equivocate and to use false equivalencies and double-speak. This was none of that.
| 156. What is wrong with her |
What is wrong with her, and Ayn Rand?? Both jewish (God's people), grew up in Russia, and both seem very smart (Orly's a dentist/lawyer and speaks 5 languages). But both also have serious issues with race, and are filled with hate. I guess growing up in Soviet Russia can really do a number on you.
| 159. Lawrence is doing so much great work... |
His detractors are simply incorrect.
| 164. Kicked off the 640Am show in L.A. too |
This crazy Loon was a guest on the Ken and John Show on 640Am Radio in L.A. yesterday and pulled the very same thing.. They were the very fist to Kick this Lady off their show... Callers into the show were not convinced either of the new facts.. OMG....
| 170. I'd like to see HER birth certificate. |
To prove that she's from this freakin' PLANET!
He pwned her, righteously too!
| 172. Sorry, but Lawrence is a dick. |
I'm not defending that delusional Bozo-the-clown look-alike, Orly Taitz. She's so deep in birther psychosis that it isn't possible for her to respond to a simple question.
But TV liberals shouldn't act like an enraged Bill O'Reilly when they're not getting what they want out of the interview. Let the conservative with the tin-foil hat speak for a few moments; they'll conveniently provide the rope with which you can hang them.
| 173. I agree on all counts, he made her look good and from what I know she shouldn't look good. |
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 04:51 PM by Uncle Joe
I have no idea what Taitz was even going to bring up about Obama's selective service, because he kept interrupting her, but the corporate media needs to do better regardless of their stated ideology.
It kind of reminds me of the useless McLaughlin Report when they constantly talk over each other, nothing but bullshit propaganda.
| 174. You know, I'm all for people keeping it together and behaving.. |
Edited on Thu Apr-28-11 04:35 PM by rainlillie
in a professional manner, BUT the reality challenged, Orly and her flock have attacked President Obama in one of the most despicable ways. I don't blame Lawrence for getting angry. They know damn well that Obama was born in America. This birther bullcrap is just another way for them to delegitimatize his presidency. The birthers just can't accept the fact that he's president. They think, he must have cheated somehow, someway, there's no way someone like him could ever be president. It's disgusting, shameful and embarrassing for our country.
| 175. You know, I hate her too, but we should get her name right...it's Oily Titz! nt |
| 177. They are both obnoxious |
I hate hosts who talk over their guests like that. He shouldn't have had her on if he wasn't going to let her talk.
| 192. Lawrence explained that she knew what the subject was going to be, yet she wouldn't |
even acknowledge the subject at hand. Instead, she pulled a bait & switch & began to introduce yet another of her conspiracy theories. Usually I don't approve of talk show hosts getting angry at their guests, but Lawrence had a good reason for being so frustrated. She was unethical in agreeing to be on the show to talk about the big news of the day -- Obama's birth certificate -- then refusing to acknowledge the subject at all, but trying to create a different subject for the segment.
| 178. "This is not where you come to do your madness!" |
| 182. When you invite crazy |
That's exactly what you get.
| 185. Thank you, Lawrence O'Donnell |
It is about time someone stood up and said. "Enough of the crazy rightwing nonsense!"
| 186. Yup. That's how you handle crazy people |
Invite them repeatedly to justify their position. And when they absolutely refuse, dismiss them.
It's quite simple.
| 188. What was the point of this? |
What was Lawrence O'Donnell trying to prove? He knows Orly Taitz is a nut, and of course she acted like a nut. He had to have known this was exactly what was gonna happen. This reminded me of Dr. Phil Inviting a guy on to discuss his video he sales of bums fighting each other for money, and then kicking him off the show. Why did Dr. Phil even give that guy a platform in the first place? The same can be said of Lawrence O'donnell. Why the fuck give Orly a platform? Inviting her on the show, and not letting her talk and kicking her off, is just stupid theatrics. We expect this kind of shit out of Bill O'reilly. We should demand more.
| 189. O'Donnell's an idiot. Why did he have her on his show? He must have known what she's like. It's a |
total ratings grab. His fake outrage is ridiculous. Great acting Lawrence! Next he'll have one of those Westboro Baptist losers on, and Lawrence will be equally fake-outraged.
| 195. Where is her birth certificate??? |
How can someone not even from here complain about someone else' birth certificate????
| 197. Would have been nice to see |
the giant hook come out & grab her by the neck, yank her ass off the seat as the feathers fly
| 198. I am feeling very petty today; that woman has alligator eyes |
| 200. It's also very difficult to believe that |
the Secret Service and FBI and CIA never noticed that "Obama committed Social Security fraud" by using someone else's SS number. That's really, really crazy. Tits Taitz, whatever is getting paid for this crap by some fascist group like Karl Rove, The U.S. Chamber of foreign labor, Americans for Prosperity, etc..
