"The Story of Cosmetics"

The Story of Cosmetics examines the pervasive use of toxic chemicals in our everyday personal care products, from lipstick to baby shampoo. Produced with Free Range Studios and hosted by Annie Leonard, the eight-minute film by The Story of Stuff Project reveals the implications for consumer and worker health and the environment, and outlines ways we can move the industry away from hazardous chemicals and towards safer alternatives. The film concludes with a call for viewers to support legislation aimed at ensuring the safety of cosmetics and personal care products.

2. K&R
There are many alternatives, like casteel soap, tooth powders, and solid shampoos and deodorants made without all the chemicals and many are available on line.

4. I have this discussion with my wife about once a month.
It occurs when I find her anti-persperant. I don't even give her a chance to argue with me any more, I just throw it out and tell her not to buy another one, and if she does, to read the lable to make sure it has no aluminium.

6. I appreciate the comments.
I wasn't sure about posting this on DU but after reading these comments I am glad I did. Great to read that all of you found this as informative as I did. Let's all try to be more conscious about the chemicals and substances we put on and in our bodies.

Cheers, HolyCity2012
