3. Fortunately
Though it is true that a giant black blanket in the Gulf could produce stronger hurricanes, the "bright side" (if there is one) is that the leak/spill is *currently* is too small and too close to shore to have a *dramatic* impact on the strength of any hurricane to pass over it.

The REAL concern here not mentioned isn't hurricanes, but what all that heat is doing to microbial and plant life in the ocean that needs cold water and sunlight to survive. That life will move deeper, both forcing them to survive in depths that less sunlight can reach, as well as being out of the reach of most species that depend upon them for food.

If you thought the possibility of ecological collapse in the ocean could be caused by the combined toxins of oil & dispersant, add to that the problems that Global Warming would have caused eventually, now on steroids.

4. The sea floor is dead in the area...
The sea floor is critical for regeneration and filtering. It's all connected. It only takes a rise of a degree or two in temperature to accelerate hurricanes exponentially. I think she's right.

5. K&R!!!
Look at her other YouTube vids... Google her name too... People (RePigs, methinks) are trying to drag her down, but aren't finding anything they can sink their teeth into.

6. Is she really credible?
That worst case scenario seemed so far over the top I'd have to see a lot of credentials before giving her any credence. As far as I know she's just a local with an opinion. How does she know what the worst case scenario is?

8. I've seen else where this particular worst case described.............
It also describes the oil as sand blasting the pipe clean out of the hole, and now there is a video of the thing they have set on top rocking back and forth . I have also seen in a few places where the estimated pressure coming out of the hole is at least 100k psi. They have nothing to contain that much pressure. The rock that is over the pocket of oil is solidified fish poop, not the hard rock that is under the continents, if it were to be nuked it may crumble and be come a huge hole in the sea.
Now they're drilling a second hole and maybe a third, which is going to give us another 100k psi hole to deal with. I hope our little blue planet can survive us.

10. apparently she was given security clearance to attend meetings, fly over the spill, and talk
to everybody involved... so she's not making this stuff up. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkYJDI8pK9Y

25. I wish someone would post the scientists videos instead.
This is the kind of baseless scare mongering I'd expect from the right. If anyone can find a credible source for it, I'd like to see it posted (especially since I live in coastal Louisiana).

I'm taking my 6 year old son and 8 year old daughter to Disneyland for the 1st time in the beginning of August. We have had it booked since the winter and we have been so excited.... and now I am extremely worried. The only thing I was worried about before all of this was my special needs son on his first plane ride.

My wife has not had a vacation in years. All she talks about is finally doing something together as a family after a very long time and I don't even want to mention this to her. (and I am not going to)

Fuck you BP. I pray to God you only ruined our vacation for me.

edit add on: I apologize for such a self centered post involving some things that could be so catastrophic.

Edited on Sat Jul-03-10 11:04 AM by sybster1000

This is intelligent and technical. If you watch nothing else watch part 3 about the technical inadequacies and a dead battery at the shut off valve...yes, you heard me right. Why haven't we heard of some this info here? Are they afraid of riots?

Thank you for posting this report. I wish we still had this kind of quality mass media.

22. I admire Kindra but I would advise her to dial back some of her rhetoric. She
is upset and that is understandable. But going all end-of-the-world isn't going to help. She needs to stick with pointing out the injustices and stop worrying about as yet unfounded worst-case scenarios of geology.

23. I have a problem mustering up much sympathy
for the region. I see the locals supporting the oil companies in order to secure their jobs and the future be damned.
Maybe things need to get worse before they realize the corporations they work for are monsters. When they signed
contracts with BP to use their boats for the "clean-up" they signed a lease with the Devil. Arnesen said in her previous
video the locals including her husband, were afraid to speak out for fear of losing their jobs. In a situation like this
that attitude seems cowardly. BP is only able to continue this fraud because they have the support of the locals. They'll
get my support when they stand up against BP.
