4. Elaine Marshall's not dreadful or anything...
BUT...

I find Cunningham to be more... what's the word?... Cosmo? Worldly? He just seems to have gotten out more and gets out more than Marshall.

Of course a ham sandwich would be a better Senator than Burr.

The Runoff
Gary Pearce posted on May 06, 2010 15:36
Cal Cunningham obviously knew what was coming Tuesday. He knew he would trail Elaine Marshall, and he knew he would face immediate pressure not to call a runoff.

So he didn’t wait. He called for the runoff that night. He was interviewed live on WRAL before 7 a.m. Wednesday. And he was buzzing around the Busy Bee in downtown Raleigh at lunch.

Of course, he has every right to a runoff. He might win.

But this year is going to be tough enough for Democrats. It will take a lot of money – a lot of money – to beat Richard Burr.

The Democratic nominee needs to start now. Not June 23.

Cunningham should forget the runoff and start planning a run for Governor in 2016 – or 2012, if Bev Perdue stumbles badly.

7. don't agree
I think Cal could beat Burr. He has credibility with the huge military population. Burr didn't really support increasing VA benefits. He had to be shamed into it.

I think the NC Dems can get behind Cal this year, despite the runoff.
