A man I once worked with described the girl in this famous picture:


As "a real slut".

He really said that! As if the statement could somehow dissolve some of the guilty party's blame. That and the over-all horror.

The killer: This guy considered himself only a "moderate republican".

8. That remains a searing memory! But lets also remember two other student massacres -

Orangeburg,SC in February 1968, and Jackson State, MS shooting also in May, 1970. The student victims in those protests were African American and they have been largely ignored by media and popular history.

Thanks for posting this reminder of an awful time that followed the really awful year of 1968.
