Story:

Andrew Breitbart Meets Daryle Jenkins of the One People’s Project
By David Weigel 2/20/10 4:28 PM

Max Blumenthal’s appearance at CPAC ended, apparently, with a confrontation between him and Andrew Breitbart. The subject of the argument: the Salon.com story that I’ve written about here in which Blumenthal claimed, incorrectly, that O’Keefe had helped organize a “racist conference” in 2006 — in reality, O’Keefe was one of several Leadership Institute employees who appeared at a debate on “race and conservatism” featuring white nationalist Jared Taylor and black conservative Kevin Martin.

Here's the background on this:

One People's Project broke the story back in September about how ACORN videographer James O'Keefe attended a white supremacist forum with white supremacist Jared Taylor:

O’Keefe started working for the Leadership Institute immediately after graduating from Rutgers in 2006. In fact, he was there - very there - during that attempt by Epstein to host Jared Taylor at the Leadership Institute building. That forum ended up being moved to a building at the Georgetown Law School and manning the tables was O'Keefe himself. A DC area photographer took a photo of him while Taylor, homophobic writer John Derbyshire and assorted white supremacists who attended discussed the role of racists in today's society. Now although the Leadership Institute washed their hands of this particular event, they were still cool with O'Keefe and funded his other endeavors.

The story was updated here in Januaury with photo of O'Keefe - photo supplied by someone named Issa: http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=309%3Ahey-james-okeefe-about-that-white-racist-forum-you-attended-in-2006&catid=34%3Aye-olde-white-power-chopping-block&Itemid=3

In early Feb, Max Blumenthal wrote a piece about it at Salon called "James O'Keefe's race problem" claiming O'Keefe helped organize the event: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2010/02/03/james_okeefe_white_nationalists/index.html

Breitbart and others shot back saying O'Keefe didn't organize it but was there last minute due to some scheduling thing; O’Keefe has denied any role in planning the event.

Blumenthal's story was updated with more info about O'Keefe's photo (same link above):

Subsequent to publication, freelance photographer Isis told Salon she saw O'Keefe helping with the event and believed he staffed the literature table, but her only photograph of O'Keefe was cropped so that the literature table isn't evident. "He was helping Marcus Epstein in the execution of the event," the photographer recalls. "O’Keefe was involved the same way you would be involved if you went to a party and you put out the cups and stocked the cooler.”

Daryle Jenkins, of One People’s Project, confronts Breitbart at CPAC this weekend and that is seen in the video posted.

Hopes this helps.

1. First time I've ever heard Breitbart speak
I'd probably be in jail right now if he directed that supercilious tirade in my direction. He'd better have practiced spitting teeth before I got hold of him - same for that smarmy little prick who kept waving his scrawny arm in that guy's face.

2. Can you offer an interpretation. Who was the person in the video? The article
goes to words about Max Blumenthal having a confrontation? What is the Washington Independent? I'm lost.

But it was good insight into the raging 'bart. I think he is so repulsive that I nominate his name to be included in the string of representatives of the Republican Party who pretend to be journalists. Breitbart, Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, etc etc etc. Put him on the pedastal of the hate originators and spreaders. Truth flippers.

Let them be exposed.
Let them all be held responsible for lie sourcing.
Let the persons directing and paying for their assingments be exposed.

6. good for Daryle Jenkins
Edited on Sun Feb-21-10 11:59 AM by Enrique
goes in to that huge crowd of conservatives and calls out Breitbart. Breitbart looks like he's holding his own, but that's easy when he's surrounded by a sea of supporters. Let's see Breitbart go into a civil rights convention and make his case there.

7. Is it proper for the "press" to cheer the interview subject?
Edited on Sun Feb-21-10 12:20 PM by bc3000
"Go Andy!!! Whoo hoo!"

They don't sound like serious reporters.

11. See where he said, "Get out of my face."
Know this and know this well.

That's what they do whenever poor people or people of color get angry for good reasons.

Their rage is always valid, ours? Not so much.

14. Can't we just get Pussy Galore's Flying Circus to gas CPAC...
... Y'know, while they're all in one place?

Every video out of that freak show is a promotional for FEMA camps! We need 'em!
