8. The media's business is attention, yes, obviously.
So why single him out, and why call him a "whore?"

10. Don't blame being sexist on some pseudo-noble objection to PC.
Just quit using sexist slurs just because your linguistic skills are limited.

26. All work is whoredom, if you're a professional.
When you no longer have amateur status and are rewarded for your services, you're pretty much a whore. People whore their talents out all the time, every day. For instance, if you have sex for free, you're not a whore. Once you get paid, you are.

but we cannot call another DUer a name like that - am I right?

28. Why would say that, in particular, about Cooper? Also, if you'd gone somewhere w/MJ, wouldn't you
have said so? I mean, that IS a pretty unusual thing for someone to have done.

The right question is: So...why was MJ going anywhere with a 10 year old boy?

Another right question is: Was it his mother's fame that led to the special night out with MJ? MJ did things for poor kids, and then with famous kids. He didn't have an opportunity, really, to hobnob with regular folk.

31. I'm curious - you had to see the picture and then the headline
about going with MJ to a club and then you go to said link and now your post is that you can't even watch. What exactly were you expecting the clip to have said, cuz it sounds like you think you were duped into watching this horror. It's a little reminiscent of all the YouTube videos I have watched with a GLBT theme and then in the comment sections some of the people just go to town on us calling us every name in the book and it makes me wonder why they came in the first place.

3. He went to Studio 54 at age 10?
I guess standards were different in the late 70's. Nowadays that would earn a kid's parent a visit from child protective services.

I have a friend who used to go to Studio 54 a couple of times a year in the late 70's. He said the place was awash in drugs .

12. The Real Whores
Edited on Fri Jun-26-09 10:44 PM by TatonkaJames
Being stuck in bed from back surgery I am limited to reading, writing or watching TV. I thought CNN was fairly unbiased though I watch The BBC for more factual reporting when I need to hear lies presented with more grandeur. On the topic of who the "whore" actually is in this matter it's obvious the answer is the owners of Time Warner. What brings men to turn from journalism in matters of life and death to coverage of one mans death ? Michael Jackson was a superstar for sure, but lets not forget he paid large sums of money for crimes upon young children. And days will be devoted to his story because it brings in the big $$ from advertisers.

Have they forgotten real superstars are still fighting/dying in Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the world ? I haven't seen news coverage for days. Is this all it takes for the attention span of a nation to happen to forget the important issues we are in the middle of ? The wrongful occupation of a country would pretty much be at the top of my list of news coverage if I owned the largest news company in the world. I've seen the transition from day one when true reporting gave me hope that the masses would have a source for not only journalists reporting but actual footage of the goings on in these battle zones. Yet, they chose the route of all evil, $$.

So what is there left to watch ? Nothing on TV except a movie now and then, so I'm left to my writing and nonfiction books. Then I found the DU. Seems like I might find some like minded souls to join in mild banter about the follies of Washington and the rest of the world. I'm hoping this is so.

Hi, I'm TatonkaJames, hope you don't mind my long introduction. Looking for some fun times and discussion.

Peace :hi:

15. Hey TJ!
Can I call ya TJ?

I hear ya. It is sad that we barely hear anything about Iraq, especially when we were promised that we would have all
combat troops out in the near future. I don't think I've seen a picture inside Iraq or Afghanistan for weeks, but I did
see that our local National Guard is ending additional troops to Iraq. That was a WTF moment for me.

Welcome to DU. I hope your back is healing well. I had surgery at L4-L5 myself.

:)

CoffeeCat, sure if I knew what that means, call me ? Is this like other forums where members can send PM's (private messages) to discuss
off the record ? If so I can't find how to in the help section. Or would you like me to add my email address ?
Sorry for my ignorance, this site is new to me and I need to learn my way around. Please let me know how or point me towards the answer if
you would.

16. Don't watch TV news
It's propaganda that would make Pravda, TAAS and Izvestia blush. You have found the source for news, unvarnished and in plain language. There is the occasional fake story, but much more honest than other sources.

19. that is the truth
the few times I watch tv news, like when trapped in a doctor's office, garage waiting room or airport, I am disgusted with what I see.

I would call them whores, but, I don't want to offend anyone again tonight.
