1. Why not in either direction?

Or between Christian denominations? Or between Islamic denominations? What's the problem?

3. I agree. As long as it is not done at gunpoint, they can try.
That is what free speech is all about. You are allowed to try to convince others to your viewpoint. However, they also have the right not to listen.

2. I don't see why Stone Age myths should have any authority whatsoever.
Convert them all to Reason and Skepticism.

4. anyone acting in a politeful manner should be allowed to be at any public event handing phamplets
so, yes, they should be allowed. as to the question in the OP title - yes, it's in their belief to spread the word of Christ, and peacefully done, there's nothing wrong with that. not interested, just say no thanks.

7. My right to speak trumps your right not to be offended. That is the law in the US.
If people want it the other way around, there are plenty of other countries in the world just for them.

11. bingo
it is AMAzING how few people understand this concept.

our country's dedication to free speech is MUCH greater than most of europe, and canada, etc.

iow, we have made the choice (and are required to via the 1st amendment) to value freedom, and that includes freedom to offend and provoke OVER the values of "civility" and sensitivity.

it's a wonderful thing.

9. yes and muslims should be allowed to convert Christians..
Isnt that what freedom of religion is all about? We get to chose.
However, it doesnt mean you should shove your beliefs down anyone else's throat either. If its not wanted you should shut up and move on.

some religions that believe that you don't have to convert anyone. You either are or you are not. If you want to be ..that's cool, if you don't want to, that's fine, too.

The Universe will still unfold in its own unique way..
